Hi there, where can get Nylon skid rails for the bottom of my camper trailer kitchen box? Hoping to get them up to 2m long.
Thanks

I would think that a boat trailer maker would use that stuff. I know that the manufacturers of Ultimate Campers have a blue-coloured nylon strip of stuff they attach to the lid of the campers if the owner is going to want to carry a boat on top. You may be able to give them a call to see if they can assist. 02 4472 9110
Good luck

Thanks, hadn't thought of a boat trailer maker, but then again hadn't thought of anything except bunnings (no luck there!)

Hi D-Jack,
How about the skids used on boat trailers?
I assume any boating store will be able to supply, and possible use the Goss dry lube stick may help it slide

I got nylon from the local CBC bearings
shop. They had a box in the
shop full of off-cuts and i picked up a block of 12mm thick stuff for $5. I cut it into 25mm strips with my jig saw and I'm laughing. Too easy.

Hi all
I needed some nylon strips to line a non edge damaging mount for an axe under my truck - searched high and low - hardware stores hobbly stores to no avail - didnt go to the bearing suppliers though - found my solution at home - cut up an old nylon cutting board - many colours - red for meat green for - oh I forget etc. You can get more at most $2 shops - warehouse etc - cheap as chips
hope this helps

Look in th yellow pages for plastic fabricators, they sell all sorts of plastic. For slides Polyethelene is better than nylon.

As others have said, a chandlery will have it in stock. Commonly used as skids on boat trailers.

Mate
In
Sydney, Cadillac Plastics at Silverwater is the place to go for anything plastic. And from a quick Google I see they are in every state.
I've been out of engineering for a while but suggest you ask who ever you get it from about Delrin instead of Nylon - it used to be the go for slides - abrasion resistant and slippery.
For what its worth

Go and see your local (or larger city) plastics wholesaler or reseller.

Dunbier trailer stockist (most marine shops) have one of the better ones it has a grove in the middle so the screws or pop rivets do not have to be rebated & come in lengths up to 3.5mtrs

PTFE in sheet form or roll is over $70.00 per lin /m that is 1200mmx 1000mm x .5 thick So for every .5mm thicker you just double the cost..So 1mm is $140.00 per lin m and 2mm is $ 280.00 per and that is wholesale not retail
Try HDPE much cheaper and very tough ..it can be drilled and riveted or glued down.. I hope that this is helpful

yeh, i went to price some to make an "edge protection" for rope rescue purposes........was thinking along the lines of 12-15mm stuff that was to be grooved/routered to allow flexing.
Gave up that idea quickly!
