Hi all,
Noticed on the weekend that the (two-piece) guard under the bull bar was flapping, so i took it off.
This would have been removed for recent winch service & corrugations on even more recent Red Centre trip must have rattled them free.
I'd appreciate peoples opinions on what purpose this guard actually serves. It's too light to be a serious bash-plate & I'm wondering whetehr to bother putting it back on again!
All comments appreciated - fire away
Thanks & Regards

Have asked the same question to myself.
Maybe it is there to create a vacuum effect under the motor to assist in getting air through the radiator and inter cooler ??
Being plastic I can not see any other purpose.

I got rid of flimsy bit of useless kit and replaced it with a bit of fabricated 7mm thick alloy chequer ( spelling???) plate. To get the dimension, bolt holes, ventalation holes ect perfect use the plastic bit as a template. If you've got the skills to do it or have someone in the fabrication business then a few cartons should be the price for a new shiny bit of metal under your truck that will far more useful than a plastic shield. When you put it back in use stainless hex bolt with Xlarge washers and nyloc (never come undone) nuts to put it back. The only pain in the @ss is the seal that goes along the bottom of the radiator where the rear plate joins up, use some 1mm thick rubber about an inch wide that you can get at any Clark Rubber type joint. My 'truck' is a 98 2.8 GU with the factory alloy bullbar. All up the bit of alloy wieghed about 40kgs but no difference to steering, feel, front ride height. No change to cooling system either as it is an exact replica of the stupid plastic bit.
Good luck with it.
I would throw some photos up but Im in
Sydney and patrol is in Brizzie.
