Hi All,
For those that have helped in the past, Phil G and DesLexic, to name 2, I have finally bought a secondhand 2004 79 series at auction in Brisbane. Now I need a good aluminium canopy manufacturer, preferably in Brisbane but not necessarily restricted to that as Pat and I head for Kangaroo Island for 2 months work at the end of November.

We will transfer all the good bits from the troopy to the 79 series.

For those that are interested we crossed the Simpson Desert again this week after strong winds earlier this week and the conditions were testing. Good to catch up with Ruth and the Birdsville crew. We will be back at Mt Dare next Easter.

Thanks in advance on the canopy info,
Cheers

www.roscos.com/

They aren't the cheapest Canopy Manufactures but they do really good job of them.

If you have a look at there web site. Just to give you an idea on prices. I got a rough quote of 9k for the BIG AL BA2.

Its a great unit if you have that much money to spend on a canopy.

They have offices in Melb, Perth & Brisbane.

Another vote for Roscos. I got one of their removable floored canopies, with three doors. Right around Australia last year,90% on the dirt and corrugations, NO Dust and NO cracks. Expensive but very good quality.
Was built to my measurements in Melbourne, and trucked up to Sydney. They will send them anywhere. Good luck. Tim.

Good to hear you've found a farm truck :-))

My canopy is made by GSV, but they have moved on to bigger and better things, so are not interested in the one off canopies, which is a shame. They send all the one off aluminium requests to Gitshams, who don't come cheap.

A friend who is also on this site, bought a 79series this week, and priced canopies in Adelaide - looks like they'll go with a Zincalume one from Stallion complete with spare wheels on the back, and twopack finish for about $5.5k. About a 4-6 week wait.

Any idea when you might be coming thru Adelaide?

Cheers
Phil

Creative conversions in Brisbane do ali canopies. They also do extra cab conversions and the like. Check out this link:
www.creativeconversions.com.au

I understand they do nice work. My next 'dream' 4B would be an extra cab converted 79 series (or Patrol) ute with ali canopy and boat rack on top. It's a couple of years away, so I'll keep dreaming.
