Howard
get the RAA maps, and Westprint map of Googs Tk. Access is open. Easy 4wd-ing: - let your tyres down on Googs & go south to north.
Search for L Gairdiner/Googs etc. I posted a reply to a similar Q about 1 month ago
Cheers

Howard,
Do you have OzieEplorer? If yes I can e-mail you a track(.PLT) file for that route. I did it last, last year. Gawler Ranges are welll worth seeing.

Howard,
Think mine (when I can findthem!) looks like those below. Have a look at those and I can try and answer queries if you have any. From Kimba head across towards Middleback Ranges. Camp Sites at Refuge Rocks (aka Secret Rocks).

G'day Howard. Our 4WD club is doing Googs this Easter as well - maybe we'll see you out there. After doing the track from south to north, we intend going from Tarcoola to Glendambo to refuel etc then coming back the short distance to Kingoonya. From there, we'll be travelling south between Lake Gairdner and Lake Everard. It's a public road and there's a new PAR to a nice camp site at the southern end of Lake Gairdner. There is a track from Googs Lake, east to the dog fence and then a station track through Lake Everard which can get you through to the Lake Gairdner road, but this is DEFINITELY only with express, prior permission in writing, from the manager at Lake Everard Station. The rangers in Ceduna like to be forewarned of any visitors to Googs, especially over Easter as I think the traffic will be quite thick during those few days. I have been told they will definitely be out on the track so make sure you have the relevant park passes. The Ceduna NPWS number is 08 86253144. Suggest you could also ring the Ranger based in the Gawler Ranges (don't have his number at hand but check the NPWS web site) for any further info on tracks in the Gawler Ranges/Lake Gairdner area - they're very helpful.
Cheers.
