Yes John, providing the track is not wet it is an easy drive in a day.

This is the preferred route between Birdsville and Innamincka for the "locals".

Quite a good drive too with varying geography. It was one of the highlights of our trip a couple of years ago.

John,

It is a good run from Birdsville to Innamincka.

When I was on my way home this year I went from Birdsville to Tibooburra in a day and Tibooburra to Penrith in a day.

If you have never travelled the Walkers Crossing route before, the best guide is contained in the trek notes of the SA Desert Parks pass, which you need anyway. It is not hard to get confused with the many oil/gas and pastoral tracks that criss cross the track. Can be done in a day in a day but the slower the better. Gets boggy on the top gibber section between the sand dunes and the Birdsville Track after a bit of rain and as a consequence is often closed.

Not a problem but the turn off is not marked & is easily missed if you come from Birdsville to Innamincka so make sure you take way point for it, also if it rains its hard going, if at all as we found out last year when half way the heavens opened up
