Has anyone had any experience with the 4WD Systems (Gear to Goannawhere ads) cargo drawers ??? Just wondering whether they are any good or are the Outback or Black widow worth the extra money ????

Cheers

I have a set in my car and they do everything i would expect of vehicle draws......(they open and close and hold things)...........
I am sure the outback and black widow are better built,,,, "value for money",, i believe the 4wd system draws are better...
You can even shop direct to the guy who makes them.....His name is Paul and his policy is that if when you buy his draws,,, he will only charge you a $200 fee to do a changeover to any other car you buy...and that includes new draws each time...

To be honest I don't have the 4wd System Draws and can't honestly comment on there performance. I do however have a set of Black Widow draws which are excellent and the build quality is worth every cent. WRT draws it will come down to Budget and Personal Taste.....At the time of purchasing the draws, Black Widow where the only one's doing the top shelf and partion which is a great addition though expensive. I do believe that Outback draws now do a similar thing....Good luck either way you go.......

I have a set of 4WD Systems drawers in my GQ. Having looked at the other brands, there is definately a difference in build quality. However, they do work well for me and open and close as they should, and do what I would expect from a rear storage solution. I have given them a fairly hard time on the rough stuff and they have a lot of weight in them, and they have stood up to everything so far, with no signs of fatigue.

This is actually my second set, as the first ones turned up with some slight damage from being dropped on a corner whilst transported. I rang 4WD Systems and they quickly arranged for another unit to be sent out and organised the pickup of the damaged one.

So in summary, my experience has been positive.

Check OffroadSystems - cheap and great value for money - no loss of quality - $100 to changeover to another vehicle ;-) (same drawers, just different base plate and side wings

Darryl,

IMO everybody who has provided feedback have given an honest and accurate response. It gets down to your available budget.

I had a look at a set of 4WD System drawers which was sitting on the floor of their showroom. (adequate)

I then had a good look at the Outback system which is distributed by TJM and ARB and advertised on this site. (reasonable)

Finally, I checked out the Black Widow Drawer system at a 4WD show a couple of years ago and with the discount I received as a "show special" chose the Black Widow system. They are an excellent design and worth the extra money if you can afford the investment. They are a once in a lifetime investment as they can be transferred to your "next vehicle" just by purchasing a new set of side wings.

Like Sand Man, which ever way you go, a good draw system will transform any vehicle. I made my own system over 12 years ago, it was great, but no where as good as the professionally built systems. I Bit the bullet just over 12 months ago and looked around, and found for build quality and a very easy system to install yourself, I went for the Black Widow.

Sure it was a big $ outlay, but they will last a lifetime, being able to be taken from vehicle to vehicle.

Cheers

Thanks all for your replies. Being in Brisbane I haven't been able to see a set of the 4WD systems hence the questions as it is a risk to purchase sight unseen.

Interesting one of the local TJM megastores now sells Black Widow over the Outback as they said they were a lot better.

All food for thought.

Likewise with the Black Widow........whilst I had a small problem with mine, the service by Balck Widow to repair what was basically poor installation by the *&% dealer, was excellent. The completely removed the system, fixed the small problem, re-installed it properly, lent me a car to go into town for some lunch, happily accepted my dog running around the carpark chasing a ball, made me coffee AND gave me a great hat and stubby holder for my trouble. Can't complain about the service. Highly recommended and local (Vic) to me. Draws now perfect.

Good luck,

Cheers,

Mark
