Hi Phil
A few weeks ago I drove a Hi-Lux and tandem trailer from
Yalata to
Ooldea on my way to
Maralinga and found the road was generally good with some rough sections. There was never any worry we would not get through, in fact there were a couple of cars coming the other way with indigenous people in them, so was not hard. We were informed by the locals at
Nundroo it was a better road than the Nullabour to
Watson.
If you are going to
Maralinga the road from
Watson is sealed all the way. as are the roads within the
Maralinga restricted area.

Hi Graeme,
We are heading up that way next year. We will travel the same track, but coming in from Colona, then taking the track north to
Ooldea. We just received our approval from the
Yalata Community, but it took 6 weeks to come. It is the first aboriginal approval that we have applied for that did not want all the paperwork and any fee to use their land.
It is a pity other communities were not as easy to deal with.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Stephen
My Wife and I are hoping to
camp at
Yalata on our trip
Perth to
Sydney and Back.
Can you tell me the contact details to get a permit.
I have tried a few numbers that I dug up and none of them work. :(
Thanks in advance.
Mike.

gday graeme, we are doing a fund raiser for the rfds and are riding postie bikes from glendambo to
perth on the dirt, have ridden all the ride bar the link up with the railway and the coast.
The watson/
nullarbor roadhouse track looked best as the crow flies but
ooldea /
yalata could be another option, thanks for your reply mate
