My son has asked me where he & a few mates with young families could camp
next Easter, somewhere on the water, quieter the better, with good facilities,
between Newcastle & Taree. No doubt some of you have a favourite spot in this area. All suggestions appreciated.Thanks...oldbaz.

LOTS of areas to choose from.
Does he need caravan access ? power facilities? etc
When you say on the 'water' do you mean beach or river? there is a couple of nice caravan parks just outside Tuncurry on the Wallamba River. names/details can be posted if you like.
If you don't need power and can opt for National Parks .. then anywhere on the Myall Lakes is a must ! heaps of spots .. heaps of area .. and the water is ... well just superb.!
!MPG:11!
also see details on Myall Lakes on the NPWS website. .. or let me know if you want/need any more info.
Matt.

Have alook at Bombah Point on the Broadwater Myall Lakes. A top spot for small kids and facilities for the "oldies".
The joint is now managed for Natio Parks by the Murrumarrang Resorts mob.

Ian,
My wife an I spent 3 nights there two weeks ago - agree its a great spot, and it is well run. But as for it being an "Eco resort" ............well it was a nice caravan park!!!

Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Phil, are you not aware that if you have two gum trees and a grevillea with a report of a possum having been sighted you then qualify to call yourself an "Eco Resort". I think an Eco Resort is where all the Eco's migrate for summer.

oldbaz,

Yes Mungo Brush has been tightened up considerably, National Parks are frightened that one of those big old gums may drop a limb on you, last time I looked just about all the sites were all behind pine log posts, so caravans or campers are out.

Bombah Point is a nice caravan park on the shore opposite Mungo Brush. I'm not flash enough to give you one of those whizz bang linky things. However you may care to google it for yourself.

Ian,
Many thanks for clearing it all up. We did see a possum, so I guess that makes it an eco resort. There was a guy in a boat outside our unit netting fish, and a bunch of youngsters filling the atmosphere with 2-stroke while they hooned around on one of those inflatables behind a skiboat.

But seriously, its a nice area and we had a great time canoeing around.

Two weeks ago, we stayed at Pacific Palms, which is 23k S of Forster. There are two very nice Caravan Parks - best one is Sandbar&Bushland Caravan Park about 6k south (02)65544095 - its next to the beach and is on a lake - very family friendly. Second one was Pacific Palms Caravan Park on Elizabeth Beach (02)65540209.

I'd think you'd have to book now for next Easter, but don't be surprised if they are booked out.

Phil
You forgot the Palms Oasis in Boomerang Drive Blueys Beach with onsite Supermarket and Service Station, Booti Booti Camping Area and the old Tiona Park at Booti Booti with the later two having Beach and Lake access.

Seal Rocks Caravan Park (Council)and Treachery Caravan Park at Treachery Beach (Private).

Of all the above the Palms Oasis has a lot of permanents the rest are Tourist and Sandbar Bushlands have more chance of Prime Time access as all permanents have been eliminated but check and book early anyway.

I hope you had a good holiday in Pacific Palms.
Ian
