Do Nissan and Toyota offer a factory-fitted option for Diffloc and Winches in Australia. Nissan offer only lo-spec models in NZ. Thanks.

Pat,

Toyota offer factory lockers on some models. Nissian don't have lockers as an option as far as I know. Neither offer factory fitted winches.

Correction - Nissan do have a factory winch and steel bar - I just got one on my GU yesterday. Most of the police and govt vehicles have factory winch as standard.

The Nisisan bullbar and winch is fitted as a dealer fitted option not direct from the factory. The winches fitted to the goverment vehicles are mostly Warn winches fitted by ARB. Toyota sell the superwinch but it is a dealer fitted option.

As regards the factory difflock in the TI I believe that was dropped in the last model upgrade.

Cashy,
You may be right, diff lock may have been dropped but the bull bar and winch ar genuine with genuine part numbers (Nissan Part numbers) the bullbar is made by ARB for Nissan by Nissan's specs and the winch is warn.
Now if that is not genuine to you then the whole car is not genuine because the mufflers are made by calsonic and so are the radiators and the lights by tochico and so on, Nissan does not manufacture every component, neither does Toyota, Toyota's winch is the superwinch brand.
Diffs and diff locks are made by another company in Japan (not all of them are the same because neither Toyota nor Nissan or any other car manufacturer use always the same suppliers.
There is a list of their suppliers with Ph numbers and addresses inthe japan web page for both of them.

Will,

I never said they were not genuine, I said they were not factory fitted which was the question. You will not find the fittment of a bullbar as a factory option they are all listed as dealer options.

Cashy,
I agree, dealer options are options manufactured outside of Japan's plant.
Toyota's Air conditioning for example is not standard and absolutelly all of them are fitted in Australia by either the dealer or pre delivery.
There was a huge pre delivery assembly line in Sydney years ago

Toyota did offer an electric locker arrangement option at one stage, but i dont think it was ever available here in NZ. I'm not 100% sure but i think it was for the 70 series Cruiser. You can buy the imported Cruiser 70 series models with electric lockers and other models have mechanical ones. Available only in the medium wheel based imports though. You might pick something up via the Just Cruiser spares place in Christchurch NZ

When Nissan fist introduced the MQ Patrol in 1980 manual locking diffs were an option on the upmarket wagons and they were awesome. They also had drop away stabaliser bars which were still available as an option at least on the TI model in the GQ range. Toyota still offers electric diff locks as an option on GXLs when ordering from new.

Thanks people. The occasional used Nissan import (Safari) has difflock (rear) and winch fitted in Japan.

Will, You mention a Japanese web page. Is there a page for nissan which gives models options and prices in English?
