Hey there, does anyone know of a canvas roof rack bag, with zippers on the side to suit full length (6ft) roof rack, either commercially or in the 2nd hand market? Cheers Andrew..

Hi Andrew,

I got one made up for my rack to size. I had it custom made by Mike's Canvas in Wangara.
It cost me about $150 with zips down sides and heavy duty 'seatbelt' straps across the top to stop flapping etc.
I chose canvas but if your storing dry items make sure they're waterproofed or use PVC and make sure that rain can run off the canvas rather then puddle up.

We borrowed one of them canvas roofrack sacks off a mate, it had done the Variety Club 4x4 bash, and about 6 weekends on his Jeep.

Size was around 1/4-1/3rd of a full length rack, and put all our sleepin bags and stuff in there, light weight things... brilliant concept!!

I loved it until I got home inspected it and it was ripped from a$$hole to breakfast... :( Just where the tie on points are to hold it to the roofrack.

Not sure of the brand, Bushranger(theres one in the local TJM store in a box here)? Reminds me Still owe Pete a new one to replace it... :(

I agree with the other bloke, get one made up out of top qual canvas.. When I replace Petes, I'll do that with him, and he can pay the extra.

Thats also the only time Ive had the parachute/roofrack on the car!

Southern Cross Canvas in Bayswater, Victoria make them to requirements. I also know of people who have had holes worn in them. A lot to do with how well they are secured I think - obviously if they move, they wear.
