Hi Doug T (W.A.)
Upgraded about 6 weeks ago as we were coming down through Bundaberg. Has a fair bit more info than 6.
You may be able to tell me whether it is possible to download Tracks4Australia onto the Street Pilot2610.Have not been game to try as i read somewhere that it would wipe out the base maps in the unit and it would have to be returned to Garmin to reinstall.
Regards Duke

I don't think you can install other maps into Garmins, I really doubt it , besides if the new software is better then why use something else, you would be better using the other in a laptop.

Hi Duke,
Down load tracks4australia into mapsource and select all the maps you need including CN6 or CN7 and down load both to the street pilot, when you down load all current loaded maps are over written and you will need 256mg card to down load all of both maps. when down loaded into the street pilot select which map family you wish to use.

What more has it got than CN6? I took a quick look and it all looked the same.

Hi all
Doug, that is what i was led to beleive as well. The only reason i would like to put traks on the Street Pilot is that it has more detail once i get off the main roads.
John i already have City Nav. 5 6 7 plus tracks4Aus on my laptop but was told it would wipe the base maps out of the Street Pilot if it was downloaded. Just not game to try without knowing for sure.
Bonz, i know it has the new M7 around Sydney and more of the Western Ring Rd around Melb. on it.Also has more info on small country towns down here in Tas.Will find out more info when we leave at the end of Jan2007 for a couple of years on the road.I find it most useful when going through major City's and Towns.

I just thought of something, the base map is in the units memory, you would be adding your maps to the SD card

Yes Doug have thought of doing that as i have the original SD card from when i upgraded to a 500+ MB card. Was told it would wipe the base maps out of the units memory.

Sorry I have not replied early but have been working day & night, dont panick about losing the base maps, I have a street pilot 2610 and have loaded both T4A and CN6, you do lose the base maps, but you overwrite maps the are already loaded on the memory card, so you need to choose which maps you want to load in mapsource including what you want to keep that is already loaded and down them all together. May be look at Oziexplorer on your laptop for off road use.
goodluck with the 2610 and trip.

John.

How do you go about getting the upgrade. It's all new to me. Have had the Garmin and Navigator V6 for a while, but don't think I've ever registered it.

Best you call GME in Brisbane 0732786444 and I'm sure they will help as they did me here in Perth, or if you got it from Johnny Appleseed on Ipswich Rd Annerly near the McDonalds and just infront of the Adults Shop then I would go there.....NO not the Adult Shop , you must remember to go to Johnny Appleseed and no deviations.

Reckon that Adult shop next to Johnny Appleseed don't know much about directions but plenty about something that rhymes with it.
