Is anybody travelling along the
Gibb River Rd, starting at the
Broome end around the 1st June this y ear, with the intention of heading up to
Mitchell Falls and surrounding areas of the Kimberleys? Was hoping to maybe meet up with fellow travellors, there is two adults and a five year old travelling in our party.

May pass you at some stage we are starting up the Gibb RR a few days after you. Properly the 6th, there is a stairway to the moon showing on the 5th in
Broome would like to show the people travelling with us that
(For those who have not seen it the stairway to the moon is a quite spectacular event when the full moon corresponds with the low tide and produces reflections in the shallows looking like a stairway up to the moon. With Broomes 10 meter tides this looks great and people come from
miles to sit on their fold up chairs and enjoy a couple of cleansing ales or smooth reds according to your preference.
We will not be getting off the main GRR this trip unfortunately so will only be spending just over a week on that part of the trip, as we are doing a big circle up through
Darwin and back down to Alice and over the Great central highway then back up to the
Pilbara where we live.

Kevin (or any other
forum members travelling the
Kimberley),
I live in
Derby at the west end of the GRR and will have made at least one trip along the GRR by the time you turn up. It's still closed at the Barnett River for now. I have the task of organising a one month itinerary around the
Kimberley for a group from the LROC of WA and with luck we will get them into a few
places the tourists can't access. If you need some local knowledge when you get here I live opposite the north end of the caravan park in Rowan St. You should see a red Land Rover 110 Defender in the driveway and maybe me sucking on a tin about beer o'clock if I'm in town.
