I am planning to go to
Birdsville next year via
Innamincka I have found a map that shows a track heading west from
Innamincka and joining the
Birdsville track at appox130km south of
Birdsville.I have only found this track on one map, has anyone travelled this track and if so could I please get some feed back on the conditions.

Its called the
Walkers Crossing track. Its a Public Access route, but in
places it can be confusing because Moomba private roads are often better than the track you're allowed on. Its a nice drive. Just check that its open if theres been a bit of
water down Cooper Ck.

Hi CarlJ,
I travelled this track about a month ago but in the other direction... The western end is very clear and easy to follow but as you get closer to
Innamincka you get into the gas fields and the track gets a bit confusing. When I did it it was dry but looked cut up in
places from vehicles driving it in the wet.
Also as you get to the eastern end there are numerous sand drifts over the road. When I did it it had gotten dark by that point and I had to rely on the GPS to stay on the track in some
places where it became very faint.
Good fun though and I'd do it again.
Cheers,
Rod

The track west from
Innamincka is 15 Mile
Creek Track. We travelled that way in August through to
Walkers Crossing and on to
Birdsville. We were towing camper trailers. It was a good run all the way with adequate
signage. Like all outback travel, weather could be a factor. 15 Mile
Creek Track is sandy in
places and also has clay pans.

Hi Carlj !
Walkers track is the go, did it in August and its not too bad at all.
Just check at the Innaminka
general Store.
All you have to do is follow the wheel marks, if you can see them, in the sandy section, apart from that its good.
There are plenty of
camping spots along the way, once you reach the " Crossing ", and mainly in teh centre of it, but beware of the weather, you don't want to get " rained in".
Had my Garmin eTrek Legend on, GPS, so if you want the info and Mapsourse, just give me a yell,
Cheers Mate
Bucky
