The other week i ventured up for some medium to easy tracks in the VIC high country and found that a lot of the good tracks were closed.

You guys know when they usually open again for the summer??

Cheers

The majority of High Country tracks should now be open. (From Cup Weekend) A few in some areas may be held over till December at the descretion of the local Parks Rangers. (snow on tracks/trees down/track maintenance etc)
Otherwise most closures are sign posted with the opening & closing dates.
Cheers Craig.............

Check the parks site, then call and ask about the tracks you want to do to make sure.

plenty of easy to easy tracks up that way, I usually run new members trips for the club up there...

Barn
It was the Yarra State forest up behind Warburton. The track was called Mississippi. It's graded as medium+ as its really steep. That was the main reason for the treck up there.

Hi Barn,
Two years ago, I went to do the Mississippi track on the same weekend and it was closed as well.

I did hear that the Pajero Club "adopted this track", so either it is restricted to club trips, or they rather than the Parks people open the gates later in the season.

I have driven this track quite a few years ago and the family and I thought it was fun. There was alot of side cuts and humps for drainage etc.

Cheers,
Mal

We were up the this weekend just past and no problems with track closures. We didn't do a great deal but went in from mansfield to pineapple flat, up to lake cobbler via the staircase, along the king river, around to craig's hut and down the momument track and then around some 'roads/tracks' to mt buller. Nothing was difficult except the momument track was quite 'interesting' - taking it slow and stopping to work out the best way for the vehicles with less clearance was required. The vehicles with higher clearance had no problems. but we didn't see any tracks closed.
