Grandpa joe
Have been putting together a trailer of my own for the last few weeks and have come to a point where I need some upside down U shaped poles bent up or fabricated to use in the canvas Sleeping area of the trailer to hold the roof/walls that can hinge down within the bed area.
Does anyone have any related info or know of a place that can supply or fabricate such tubing ? any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a chrome tube folding bimini frame on my 4m boat which is the U shape you are thinking about, which holds up the canvas top. Perhaps some enquiries in that marine direction might help.

Maybe the local exhaust
shop will do the pipe bending for you? Worth a try?

Hi Grandpa Joe,
I have a Customline CT and the way the bows are done on this are easy. In stead of bending the poles which makes round corners, they actually join the ends at ninety degrees, weld them together and weld in a gusset at forty five degrees to strengthen. This allows the canvas to sit
well in the corner as the shape is better suited. I would think that if you could weld, you could do this yourself.
CT is a bit hard to get out at the moment or I would take a photo for you. I will have a look through my archives though and see if I can find something.
Here is a link to the Customline site, you can almost see what I am talking about in the photos here...
Customline CT
Hope this helps.
Regards, db...

This is the way most CT manufacturers do it, the other posts have forgotten that thye need to adjustable, which is why the just use tent poles & can use the adjuster.

If you're in
Sydney and you could use Aluminium tube, I've had some 1" OD (3mm wall) tube bent up to my specs at Excalibur Boats down in Botany. They're custom Aluminium plate boat builders and they've built a custom hard top for a half cabin for me using tube/plate, as
well as a few other bits and pieces. You can get them on (02) 9666 1696.

Hi Grandpa Joe,
I don't know where you are, but you could go to a company that does this sort of work.
See URL for a place in
Melbourne.

I used these people quite a few years ago and they were reasonably priced.
Cheers,
Mal

I just bought a plumbers pipe bender from bunnings or super cheap and went down to my local steel merchants for the pipe or you could go to BIAS boating :)
