I took the newly aquired Jack to
Sydney today, did I tell you what a lovely drive it is? Anyway the purpose of the journey was to collect 5 alloy rims & tyres for it,
from my favourite
shop..ebay. After reading all the problems locating rims at a reasonable price I was happy to get 5 with 70% tyres for $400 the lot. Tyres are a
bit highway but, hell , you cant have everything!! Jack used 3/4
tank to do 470k so
happy again with that too.
Question Time...how do I clean & maintain these alloys?. Having a sheltered life I
have never owned any before. They are not marked or damaged but very dirty &
black on the inside.
Two interesting "on road" incidents... first ,a nice 30 something lady _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx her
shiny Prado, dripping with chrome bolt ons, alongside at the lights. Gives me a look
of utter disdain after eying Jack up & down, so I quickly take up the metre of space in front of me to the next car. Lady ,thinking lights have changed, floors Prado &
remodels Golf in front of her by shoving it up the truck in front of it. Certainly pays
to be attentive, doesnt it?
second...back on freeway, A loud bang from truck 50 mtr ahead, then confronted
by flying ribbon of rubber . If I had been closer Jack would have had a new face too. I have concluded that Jack is changing my life...bring it on....oldbaz.

My 96 Jack was manufactured with bash plates all over the place, transfercase included. The only gripe I had was the horse nut / freak or what ever you wanna call em chose to tow his glupots round in top gear then sell it with out letting anyone know about it. Cost me $2,000 to get the box done and thus far no problems and have rescued more than my share of Tojos and pootrols! ;-)

Thanks for
the tip, there are several bash plates including the transfer case, but I
dont intend any serious off road stuff. Great
forum too. will keep an eye on that one...oldbaz.

So you deliberately caused a crash and seem to be bragging about it on a
forum?
Good work... I'm sure the Golf driver appreciated it.

Yeah - shame on you Barry, for reaching over and putting your foot on that woman's throttle.
I think I'll try that tomorrow in my Jack. They are magic cars, but I didn't know they could remote control a Prado.

Have to say, Phil, when you have a Jack at the lights, lesser mortals driving lesser vehicles do unexplaineable things.
I think you're right about her having the hots for Baz..Just wait till the alloys are fitted....... :)

Thank you for your support ,folks. It did not occur to me that she would hoof it, all I did was move out of her eyeline. The fact that I can be accused of deliberately causing this accident is a fine example of free speech & while I do not agree with it, I defend the right to say it......oldbaz.

Free speech is great, so here goes......
Barry, the thought process that conjures up a guilty verdict for you in this scenario is what is wrong with things today, ie, everything someone does is the fault of someone else. Nobody (woman in Prado) has even the slightest responsibility for their own actions.
I guess she must have been the victim of child abuse, and suffers from not-me syndrome for which there is no cure, despite visiting numerous specalists, and has just found out that her mother's brother's only niece is afflicted by a fascination with older men, due no doubt to the trauma of her father's untimely death when she was 13 from which she has not recovered emotionally. The defence rests.
The prosecution states - dumb-ass woman in massive 4x4 which doesn't belong in suburbs floors throttle and rams innocent Golf. She claims she couldn't see the Golf in front or the truck in front of that.
Verdict - Guilty as hell of inattentive driving. Sentence - License restricted for life - she may only ever drive a Prado again.

Baz,
Please refrain in future from using the Jackaroo's mental telepathy powers to bend the throttle cable in unsuspecting Prado's.
Don't get any mud on the Jack or those women in Prado's will be flinging filmy lacey things at you!!
Geez Gerhardp you've summed it up perfectly. Nobody on this planet is responsible for their own actions any more!

Mow it son, don't smoke it !!

Try a truck accessorie place for alloy oxidiser ,you can thin it out(with
water) or put it on straight ,let soak for 10 mins (goes frothy) hose off ,they'll come up like new,no rubbing ,just let the stuff do it's thing by itself.
I have pollished alloy's on my truck and this stuff works really good on all alloy and brings it up like new(even checkerplate).
expect to pay $15-18 for a litre but you dont need a real lot
