In part, you've answered yourself. Fronteras use a torsion bar double wishbone type suspension. If you simply just wind up the torsion bar you loose the capacity for your wheel to "droop", limiting traction through potholes. With most vehicles with this set up, the best amount(as distinct from the most) to wind it up is abour1-1.5 inches. After that you start running into issues with excessive CV joint angles. If you really want to go 3-4" a combination of the above suspension lift and a body lift (blocks between body and chassis) would be the go. ( I am assuming you are wanting to put bigger wheels on, hence the lift)

Other than that you are probably looking at a LFA.

Snorkel? contact an exhaust specialist about 3" mandrel bent polished stainless steel (NOT MY IDEA, but suggested to me for a similar "orrphan", a Kia Sportage )

Try Calmini - I know they're in the states but they specialise really in 2 things - Zooks and Isuzu's. You will find that most of the Isuzu MU stuff is the same. 2" suspension lift kit $389 US and 3" (major swaps like suspension arms to keep drive alignment ok) $789 US.

http://www.pureisuzu.com or http://www.calmini.com for all the calmini goods

Their prices are in US but in even so can work out better and cheaper than some of the aussie stuff. For instance all the ARB/TJM guys just wind up the torsion bars for their kits rather than replacing them like Calmini does and still want about $800 or so for the lift. No thanks I'd have replacement torsion bars for the same price any day.

They also do awesome body and suspension lift kits for Zooks especially Vitaras. 3" body lift ($139 US - a bargain) + 3" suspension lift + 32 inch tyres = 9" total body lift.

AWESOME! I WANT ONE!
