What model Magellan?
You will need to upload through the 'Magellan Coversion Manager'

Magellan Colour
Conversion manager is not required in this case - it is for use with eXplorist units - doesnt actuall convert the maps - just transfers them from your computer to the GPS unit after you have created them with DiscoverAus...a task you can do by cutting and pasting anyway.
Cheers

Errol,
First of all, buy yourself a card reader. These are available from Dick Smiths, etc., and enable the sd card to operate as a removable drive.
Then, go to www.gpsoz.com.au who have an excellent tutorial on how to divide Australian States up into multiple regions so they all fit on the 512 SD card. In fact they will fit on a 64mb SD Card.
On the GPSOZ Website, select FAQ, then DiscoverAus FAQ and all will be revealed.

Sandman, you want a 256meg if you want much data and if you want colour data bigger is better than less

Hi John,
You could be right there matey, I'll not dispute that point.
My Magellan Meridian Marine has a black & white screen and I fitted both DiscoverAus and Great Desert Tracks on The SD card in my unit.
Don't have it with me but as I recall it is only a 128mb card.
Errol,
Each State can be divided up into several regions then copied to the card as one.
This is renamed from the default to whatever you like. Renaming is necessary or the second copy will overwrite the original.
The GPSOZ instructions are quite explicit and work very
well. The secret is in using a card reader.
Bill.

Oh,
And why the Card Reader? (Programmer)
SPEED!
You can perform the tasks and save the Regions on the Computer's Hard Drive, but then when you select to upload it to the GPS, walk away for a few hours. It takes a LONG time.
The card reader (Programmer) makes things much simpler and faster and the Card Reader (Programmer) is also useful for transfering pics from your digital camera to the PC without having to connect the Camera to it. Most Card Readers have multiple slots that take SD, XD, CF cards, etc.
As you move from one "region" to another, the map will automatically swap to that currently applicable in the location you are in.
That's my experience anyway.

Forumites,
My apologies for the incorrect capacity information I posed above.
I checked the SD card in the GPS when I got home and it has a capacity of 512mb, of which just under 265mb has been used to store all DiscoverAus regions and Great Australian Desert regions.
I would not want to deliberately mislead people.

Hi Errol,
yes it can be done. I have the Meridian Gold with a 256MB card and i have Discover OZ as
well as
the Desert maps all on the card.
The size is an issue , you have to first make a change in the Megallan Config file so that you can increase the size of the regions.
Discover OZ can be split up into just 4 regions.
Once you have the regions , upload to the card via a card reader , much faster and you can rename the image one by one.
From memory , there is also some instructions on the megallan site.
Have fun

The Mapsend.ini file is in the DiscoverAus directory on your computer (on my computer it is Program Files/Magellan/DiscoverAus). You can alter the limit on region sizes by modifying this section of the mapsend.ini file using a text editor (eg notepad)
DEVICE_DEFAULTS]
Com_Port=5
Baud_rate=4800
Memory_Size=8000
Conv_Maximum_Number_of_Regions=9
Conv_Memory_Size=64000
Write_Export_Log=0
Write_GPS_Log=0
In this example I have changed Conv_Memory_Size= from standard 16000 (or thereabouts) to 64000...so now I can make maps up to 64mb in size..but I normally restrict them to around 20mb. It is possible to get all of WA as two files..so Im happy
Cheers

..though to solve your actual issue of getting all of Australia onto one card I too recommend getting a card reader....
