Yes, I know, aren't we lucky! Sold the house, 3 months before we can move into the new one so we have February to early May to fill in.
We have an Aussie Swag CT. SWMBO wants to take a flat screen LCD TV/DVD. This time we will be mainly coastal between
Sydney and
Port Lincoln but in the future will go back north west.
Would I need a generator or would the 105 a/h battery in the CT provide sufficient power? I have a 300w inverter.
I would appreciate ideas on the best sized unit/aerial combo for the caravanning lifestyle. Maybe I should be considering a sat dish with digital service for future trips. Space for all this new gear is a bit of an issue.
Many thanks everyone, regards, RayJen

Do you have a laptop? If so the answer may be a tuner card int he laptop. They come for both digital and analogue TV and reduces the amount of appliances you need to pack.
The laptop will cetainly run off a 300w inverter but it should be a pure sine wave type to protect the laptop.

Thansk Alan: been there, done that but so far an unreliable solution despite several re-installs. Will be contacting the supplier soon for on site help but he is interstate.

Half your luck,
I made the decision 18 months that I don't like my current job anymore but it will take me another 12 months to make to move to a new one that I am hoping will see me to retirement. I just can't seem to get motivated this close to X mas/ New years to do any Uni assignments, (next ones due on thew 24th), this site has a lot to answer for I think.

Hang in there, Kev. I am semi-retired and can't believe how good it is to have some freedom after 43+ years of hard
yacka. Did my degree as an adult part-time student too, with a full-time job and a growing family.
Yes, the site does have lots to answer for in terms of wanderlust but can I encourage you to keep going with the uni stuff, the feeling of satisfaction when you're finished is enormous. Despite the difficulties in finding work (study)/life balance.
Good luck, Ray

I can see that this site will cop a great deal of my attention very soon as I'll be recovering from surgery and avoiding doing assignments. My eldest daughter (3 yr old) tell SWMBO that I'm working when just reading posts on the site. LOL
Maybe tomorrow I'll start the assignment, tonights out due to the cricket. Go the Aussies

Hi Kev,
Hang in there on the mature age degree.
I finished
mine at age 42 in 2001. It was a good move.
Seriously challenging with a wife and 2 kids. My daughters are now 14 and 16.
Taking them to graduation was great. Not only for me but for them too, they actually got to see that there was someting at the end of all that effort.

I cant say that I'm that close to mature age I'm only 29 LOL.
But all the cost and effort that I have already put in wont be going to waste.
I have already been approached by several Local Councils in SW QLD wanting me to start ASAP so I have selected a field that has a high vacancy.
As a carpenter by trade and with a troublesome back I had decided that Building Certification was the way to go, One way to keep in the construction Industry but off the tools.

Hi, with regards to the ant, we have a SD top box and LCD TV, I found that the small UHF ant ( like a fish bone) on the same PVC pipe used for the "T" ant. works great over most of Aus.
Even on the Nullabour (
Eucla etc) it still picked up the local stations OK.
There isn't many
places that don't have TV reception nowadays.
Cheers Des.
