fitting air compressor.and extra power outlet

hi everyone ...heres one for the sparkys ...im fitting my air pump..(tyres only)into the rear draw system ....alls well 6ml power cable from second battery......direct with fuse to pump......works well.....now i want to put 1 of those 4 plug cigjacks..in there as well ...(only for a camp light/or something small.when camping ....)now could i tap into the power lead ive run for the air pump.....as not running anything unless im pumping up the tyres.......??????just to save running another lead up to it ????..

Yes Bundy,

No worries.
A correctly rated fuse for the cable size will protect the circuit from overload, whatever you plug in.

I did the same thing in my Hilux. I have storage _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx in the tray and I left the L/H drawer slightly shorter which left me enough room to mount my Max-Air compressor and a Fuse box in the space.

I used 8 BandS wire routed directly from the battery to the fuse box and then from there I have taken power for the compressor and power for 12v accessory outlets in the tray. This system has been in place for nearly 12 months and works faultlessly.

I have also mounted a 3L airtank under the tray with air outlets in the rear. So the compressor is activated via a dash switch and also a pressure switch on the airtank. A 3L tank is not enough to inflate a tyre on its own but it is enough to get a good blast of air for cleaning etc.

Here is a couple of pics of the compressor and fuse box mount before it was fitted to the 4x4. I haven't got any photos of the set up post installation. Good luck it makes life a lot easier!!!
