I am heading out to the
Walkers crossing & across to
Birdsville & up to the Diamintina Lakes National Park in the next 2 days. What are the roads like & have they had any rain.

No rain since mid December
Big wide gravel roads...some gibber between Walkers and the BVT.

According to the Current desert Parks Bulletin the
Walkers Crossing track is closed.
http://www.parks.sa.gov.au/publish/groups/public/@parks/@desertparks/documents/all/parks_pdfs_des_parks_bulletin.pdf
You'll need to cut and paste the link above. Theres a phone number there if you want to confirm.
Sounds like you might be going via
Cordillo Downs. There's not much
shelter or shade out there and it gets bloody hot in the Stony Country. Temperatures predicted for Monday and Tuesday are very HOT. Be prepared.
Birdsville received 1.8mm of rain on 6/7 Jan.
Birdsville weather
Moomba received only 0.2mm this month
Moomba weather

Are you an experienced bush traveller, and do you have to go this week?
Im with Phil, be very prepared, make sure someone knows where you are going and when to expect you, you only need
breakdown you cant fix and things go very pear shaped very quickly out there this time of year.
Take it easy and have a good trip.
Cheers Pesty

Pesty,
On his profile,
John is a tour operator:
Wannago 4wd Tours
I was a little surprised at his question, but maybe he wanted firsthand experience from anyone who has been out there recently.
Cheers
Phil

Go for it, but your best bet is if you are going via Innaminka, drop into the
general store, and ask them the road conditions ect ,,they are gr8 people there
if you have a Garmin GPS,, (
mine is an eTrek Legend ), I have the route ( did it last year ) , saved on my computer, I can email it to you, but you may also need Mapsource..
its a fairly basic track, but if you need peace of mind, then just yell out
Cheers Mate
