Had to do a service on a mates 2006 Nissan nivara diesel yesterday got the oil filter fuel filter from nissan did the service then found out the fuel filter was the wrong one took it back today to get the right filter
It took a bit of time to find the right filter but they did not have one
the worst part about the right filter is the cost hope you are all sitting down for the price
retail $600.00
the dealer have been told buy nissan to include this price in the 400000km service
The late model 2006 nivara diesel does not have a spin on filter

Had a similar but scaled-down version of this with a 3l, 2002 Rodeo. (Or was it the Mazda? Doesn't much matter). I seem to recall that the fuel filter was around $250. Then there is the cost of tank draining, fitting, replacing etc.
From someone who knows please, what is the story?
(Apologies to Isuzu: think it's the Mazda 323 with expensive taste for accessories. Bought 'em both from the same dealer, same year, similar distances. I forget.)

sounds abit pricey for the rodeos. Genuine Isuzu filters can be had for under $25, that is providing they do not use the same as a jackeroo 3L, which is around the $60 from memory.
If it was, maybe they tried to sell you the complete water separater. Once had a mechanic call me back and said, "you realise your second fuel filter requires replacing, its full of crap"
" your kidding" I said, "didnt even know it had a second filter!"
" now you know, but im having a few problems getting this plastic bowl off its housing"
me-" Ill be there in 5 minutes to pick the whole car up!!"

Don't they have an aftermarket one out, I would be shopping around on eBay in Europe, before I paid such a rediculous price for a filter

I tryed after market but at this stage there is not a fuel filter made for this vehicle
there is a after market oil filter witch is a A89A (ryco)
have suggested putting a cav filter and housing in place of the genuine filter
Not sure if this will work as there is some wires coming out of the bottom of the filter it might be only for water but you never know with late model cars
Thanks

worth checking into the CAV system. Usually the wires are for the water level indicator for the dash, and some CAV systems have these included.
Check out Denco Diesel in Wagga, good service and product (insert appropriate disclaimer here). I only purchased the standard CAV with built in primer, which, from memory was around the $130 mark. A CAV with the water alarm would cost you a little more. I didnt worry, as I usually
check the oil atleast once a week, so
check the glass bowl as
well.
With filters available from $4 upwards, a worthwhile investment

Someone is having someone on here. I had my 2.5 TD ST-X Navara 40,000 km service at local Nissan dealers - during which the Dealer replaced the filters with genuine Nissan parts and the TOTAL cost of the service was $510.
Which seems bloody good value if the filters alone cost $600!!!

I have had fantastic service and good prices on genuine Nissan service items from a place located in
Sydney, I found them on ebay and have made several purchases through them with great satisfaction. I buy my oil filters in 6 packs and they are delivered to my door cheaper than I can buy them here in CQ.

someone asked the same question on the internal nissan

well.
it sell for around $40.00

H idonks
Th filter is not a spin on or bolt on
it is just a filter all by it self with three pipes out the top a drain on the bottom side and the water switch on the bottom
they only change it in the last of 2006
the nivera has only done 10000 km

Years ago I took my old 2wd hilux into work where they had a mechanical workshop and the boss there chucked the expensive ($60 back then, it had the water drain on it) fuel filter and installed with little effort two fuel filters one being a glass bowl type and the other a paper filter. He said the paper filter would hardly ever need changing and the glass bowl trapped water as
well as filtering. The paper filter only cost about ten bucks to change anyway. When the old bomb dies running around
the brothers farm I will retrieve the setup and install it in my kzn hilux. Not that the filter they sell me now is expensive but I like the duel setup cos I could bypass one filter if I had to.
When you get the new filter, keep the old one and see if you can retrieve the gold and platinum!
Well they must be full of it at that price. Nissan must be full of that brown stuff too. Soon it will be cheaper to continue with the filter and change the motor around it?

Hey Robert
If I were you I wouold get a prices off another Nissan agenst, and if there is a big difference, then go back to your service agent and demand the difference back ,,
Once you call their
bluff, then go to one that won't rip you off !
Cheers
