Dear all,
after 30000 kms of 1000 kgs camper trailer my treg coupling has a bit of slop in it (about 2mm). This is in the long shaft section that is lubricated by a grease nipple. Does this need to be rectified, and is so what is the best way?
Cheers
XXXX
PS, the trailer has electric brakes so the coupling is not linked to a manual or hydraulic override system.

Why not contact TREG. They can probably repair or rebuild.

If the movement is in the long shaft section, you should be able to take up any slack by adjustment of the large nut at the rear end of the shaft.
I can't
check with
mine, because it has a mechanical brake option and therefore is designed to deliberately move, unless the locking flap is in place.

The movement is sideways - I should have explained better. Also,
mine might be different in that there is a pin through the large nut, so minimum adjustment would be half a turn. I will try it!

OK,
If the movement is sideways, the bush, or shaft is worn and you probably need to replace the whole assembly.
There is no separate spare parts listed for the Treg coupling on their Website.

Will have to watch that on
mine if thats the case myn done about the same klms maybe a tad less but just went and checked myn doesnt seem to be any movement so far. Wonder if there is any form of recall, would still be under warranty wouldnt it ???. I dont know what the warranty is on a treg coupling, would it go with the manufacturing of the camper or would it be a separate issue ??? Regards Steve M

Mine did the same after our last trip so removed pin (with screw and hammer) then did
the nut up till almost tight and drilled a new hole in
the nut then replaced pin.
