CRASH
I know there was a post not long ago on fridge slides and how to stop them cutting the power lead to the fridge but i cant seem to find it (i'm new here so forgive me!) I have just put in a black widow fridge slide and the first thing i did was almost sever the cable! I actually cut the cable a small amount and luckily the fuse blew first, but i was hoping that someone can tell me if there is a tried and true method of keeping the fridge lead out of the way of the slide so i dont do this again in the bush!
Regards

Hey Crash.
I am very fmailiar with the problem.
What I now do is to tye the fridge lead around the bottle screws I use to keep the Engle in place.
This does 2 things. 1 it keeps the lead out of the way. 2 it keeps the screws from rattling loose.
I leave just enough lead free to allow the fridge to slide in and out without getting in the way.

I put the power cable in some corrugated black electrical tube (dunno the name of this stuff. It is split along one dimension for installation of cables/wire/etc).
Then I taped the black corrugated tube together at 100mm intervals.
Then ran it from the 12 V power plug, in an inverted U-shpaed aluminium strip, across the back of the cargo area, as it potentially could snag frequently as it is in the high traffic region of the rear - i.e. as you open the
barn doors, on top of the sliding drawers.
Then a red posties rubber band provides tension for the enclosed cable, as it emerges from the al. strip. The lead is cable tied up along the side of the storage unit. This allows the slide to travel freely without jag/snag/scissoring etc. In the shut possie the red posties rubber band is at 70 % stretch.
Cheers

Hi Crash, regarding fridge slide cords, my husband has just finished making his own slide & read on the
forum of others' problems with the power cord. After putting a lot of thought into it he came up with an idea which he put on our slide made for an 80 ltr Engel. What he invented could solve most folks problem with this. It's made to fit in the back of a Jackaroo, the fridge slide sits on the passenger side with power outlet same side out of the jack recess, power inlet is on the right side of fridge . On the LHS of the slide near the centre he bolted a small right angle 1.5mm thick plate just to clear the top of slide with a small bearing and a bolt thru the middle then a 6mm steel rod about 5mm clear of fridge side to 20mm clear of top of the fridge on top of the bolt. The rod is bent at right angles to the right side of fridge. The cord is cable tied up the bar and over the top . Slide fridge in and out the cord folows fridge in and out perfectly .
