Hi all thinking of trading my vehicle on a Pajero 3.5L 99 V6 Escape Model Automatic with 120k on it. Can anybody please tell me fuel usage for highway, city and towing a camper trailer around 800kg. I have driven one and find it a very comfortable vehilce with good power. Has anybody had an issue with driving on beaches eg
stockton with the auto, does it get hot transmission wise and motor wise. Are these a pretty reliable vehicle and is then plenty of after market stuff available eg diff locks long range tanks etc. Any answers will be appreciated. Regards Steve M

Hi Steve,
I presume this is the NL model. I have also been researhing this model the s.o.h.c. 3.5 seems to be the best for economy and has a good rep. For more onfo go to www. pajero club.com.au they have an extensive thread on fuel economy. It will tow that weigh easily but drink a bit.
Cheers Pete

I have an NL GLS auto & fuel economy is reasonable for a 4wd; about 14lts per 100 k city driving & obviously a little less when on the highway. When I tow my ski boat, it uses more, but not excessively so, maybe 16-17ltrs per 100. The 3ltr is less fuel efficient than the 3.5ltr.
BTW, the pajero is a great vehicle in my opinion. I have done a few mods to
mine, & it goes where those supposedly 'real 4wds' go...lol.

I used to get around the 12 to 13 ltrs per hundred Highway and 15 to 16 with the Camper somewhere in between for City cycle. Brother has one now and its about the same, he also has LPG on his and uses about 3 ltrs extra for each but saves in costs of course.

Hi there Mad lux, cant give you any details on the 3.5L but can on the 3L. My neighbour has one and gets around the 15 around town and 13 up and down M4 freeway here in
Sydney.Doesnt tow anything except box trailer to tip and back. Dont know jack about mitsubishi but only going what my neighbour tells me. His is manual and revs at about 3300 on the freeway at 110 in 5th gear. This is probably all irrelevant to your question but in general his is a top vehicle with minimal engine issues except water pump and a certain pipe that runs under the inlet manifold which is common problems on both motors but shouldnt be an issue cause he was told to do the water pump at each timing belt replacement and didnt as
well as tensioner. Geez theres some Steve M's on this site, Thats about 4 I have seen.Hope this helps. Do you have mad Lux no Plates The one I have seen is on a single cab here in Penrith ??? Steve M

If it is the NL model then you can fairly easily get long range tanks for it. Up to 147l to replace the main tank and an extra 60l auxiliary. Diff locks you can get for the back but I am not sure whether the ARB air locker is available for the front yet. Lots of stuff available
suspension wise.
Mine is a manual and tows just fine on the road or
the beach. They are one of the best beach vehicles you will find.
Hope that helps, the pajero club site mentioned above is also great.
