Call me what u will but i wanted to know for sure, for my self!!! I have bought two hi-clones for the pootrol......i wander how they will go.....apparently i get my money back if they to nothing.....but we will see!! I will be putting the truck on the dyno for a power/torque test, as well as hooking to turbo up for boost press/time, (apparently they bring the turbo on boost earlier), and will drive a set route with and without it installed....if there is no change, i will send it back!

Im curious too, everyone hates hiclones yet this sit advertises the FITCH system which promises the same results with a different technique. more power, less fuel.......

Wayne-o,

Some peple will not take anyone else's word on this issue and therefore, what you are doing will satisfy yourself and maybe a few others. If you have the time and funds to have your own tests performed, good on you. That is the sure way.

Just publish your results on the forum to help reinforce the debate on any positive or negative benefits. This will give information to others "seeking the Holy Grail".

Been there done that and returned the lump of metal.
But if you must then I will look at the results .
While your at it fit a fitch system plus all the other gadgets and you should have an overflowing tank.

Have a go at it Wayne, you have the time and the wherefore to test it without any bias I say good luck and I will also be interested in the results. Not interested in getting one but always nice to hear another side of a story!!! The only worry that I would have is as long as they do take it back if it isn't what they say it is.

The follwing is a reply I posted in post 40822, go for it you have nothing to loose, and as for those "Experts who have NEVER had one" take no notice.
Like you said you can get your money back.
I will be interested with your results on a turbo unit, and I would try placing them in different places too.

Cheers Pesty

"Now as for me I have 2 HICLONEs and they have to be one of the best additions I have ever made to the naturally aspirated diesel, besides a small increase in performance in the higher rev range, they give me in excess of an extra K per litre, so at my 50,000 k a year plus, lifting it from 5k per litre to 6 k per litre takes fuel consumption from 10,000 litres to 8,333 litres, a saving of over 1660 lites a year, and at $ 1.25 to be generous, usually more than that up here, savings of over 2 grand a year.
I know there are some vehicles that they make no difference to, but not all of them.
Even if it was only half the saving i say, its still over a grand a year !!!
Good start to beer money!
They cost me $260 1/4 of a million k's ago, you do the sums, in your head? LOL "

I can vouch for the fact that they will give you your money back - been there, done that. Noticed no improvement in my 99 TD Jack, but heard they work on normally aspirated diesel/carbie petrol engines better. Good on you for having a go and not joining the bandwagon of those on here who knock the product without testing it (not all but most). Even better of you to put in the time to dyno -there can be no disputing, and for those that do...well...need their heads read.

Wayne-o,

To be honest, I had two fitted on my last Patrol GU wagon, one just past the air filter and the other just pre turbo. This is what I honestly noticed, they gave no more noticeable power, no better fuel economy but the Turbo did seem to spool up a little earlier, by about 200rpm. This was the only benefit I noticed thus is why I haven't botherd with fitting them to the new Patrol. I will be very interested to see the Dyno results though?
I must admit that I get amused by the people that knock things that they have never used......very humorous......LOL

Truckster,

Fair Call, though how do honestly know you're getting the facts. They themselves could be hearing it from Billy Bob's uncle down the pub.......Chinese whispers don't tend to be too accurate?

For me, I only pass on info on something that I have had direct experience with and not heard from others. For me to hear a warning from someone that has had direct experience is good info. Hearing it from somebody who's heard it from somebody else isn't going to be accurate. Just the way I look at it.........

"how do honestly know you're getting the facts. They themselves could be hearing it from Billy Bob's uncle down the pub"

Unless you're telling porkies or you're in fact "Billy Bob's uncle down the pub" we just got the information from the Horses Mouth. (Just thought I'd join the cliche party)

Teabag mate, there are several people here who've spent on these and other fuel saving devices without result.

"For me to hear a warning from someone that has had direct experience is good info"

Is yours good "info", you've used and discarded them. Wouldn't that be classed as good first hand information?

Mate, you've just talked up Trucksters response big time.

Then there are others such as Pesty who've had great results.

My mate fitted two on a 1HZ powered Troopy, all they did was lighten his wallet by their purchase price. He eventually tossed them and turboed it.

Maybe, just maybe there are others on here who know people first hand that have used and discarded such devices.

Geoff

Guy's,

Not going to get in a debate of something so silly. I just stated that IMO information that comes from a person with direct experience with a particular product whether that good or bad is far more credible than second hand info. I see it so many time people giving advice on something they have never owned, driven or even used but they have no issue with giving this second hand info that could well be incorrect. WRT the Hi-Clones all I gave was my direct experience, from that people can make up there own mind.

Hi Teabag,
Nor am I going to get into a debate.

I was actually agreeing with you that first hand information is best and there's a wealth of it here and out in the big world.

Have great long weekend,

Are there any mechanics, mechanical engineers, or indeed anyone who actually knows how the air enters the combustion chamber(s) in a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine, who endorse these things????

Like I said, Just curious ;-)))

You may want to keep them downstream of the turbo, I reckon they may catch bits of broken metal should your turbo ever self destruct :-). Thats the best use I can think of for them.

If you choose to make a post on a topic that has been done to death over and over and then start your post with the opening line that you, (let me remind you - YOU wrote), what do you expect? I would have thought my first response was mild and good humoured and in keeping with the tone of your original post. Bit thin skinned aren't we?
