It is until you price it..

For what it is, plastic boxes and stuff its not cheap.

TryHome Made Similar for less than 1/3 the price when he built the original....

They make them to any size and shape you want. Ours has two large steel _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx, one above the other, a fridge slide at floor level, room for two 20L water bottles and a full width marine carpeted shelf on top. No plastic to be seen anywhere. It's mig welded and powder coated. Since it's been installed we've been to the High Country, Carpenter Rocks to Robe along the Beach, East & West Macdonnell Ranges and it only rattles on rough roads when empty, which is rare anyway. It can probably be fixed by a small adjustment on the latch.

It's in a Jackaroo, but they can be sized to fit anything.
Cost was $1100. That's a lot of money, but I can't weld, bend sheet steel or spraypaint. So instead of spending endless hours trying to design and build something that might fall apart, I spent those hours doing overtime at work earning money to pay those who can do it.
It all helps the economy.

The URL i gave above requires no bending or welding.. They use Angle Joins for putting it together...

And $900+ cheaper than that!!!!!!

Am I the only one to think that the prices of rear storage systems are off the planet?

I have built my own drawer and fridge slide system in the back of my 4 runner using 1/2 ply screws and glue with a couple of L brackets where needed ,I then painted the whole thing to protect it from water .With a large hand staple gun and some auto carpet it looks just like an off the shelf one ..some advantages of doing it your self..1 Your can custom make it to suit your existing equipment 2..Ihave cut holes and slots where possible to remove excess weight 3..the whole set up cost me less than $200. I have used 50kg drawer and fridge runners that extend 750mm they cost me less than $40 from a hardware supplier .It has been bounced around quit abit with no problems .Also as it was so cheap I can modify it without to much cost. Give it ago it look me a couple of days with basic woodworking tools.Born to drive a 4x4 , not a keyboard

Hi Peter,

Can you please supply more info on the Drawer & Fridge runners. At $40 this is far better value than the $200+ that the retailers want.

Thanks
