Tully airport mate: might catch her on her blind side as you come in over the Family Isles.

No offence buddy, but it's true!!!
(May it be a long, happy, and even-handed contact.)

Hey ZTG,
Could always bail out after the view of the islands, and skydive down to Mission Beach. (With or without Bride). Jeff.

Deep Creek conservation park. Your choice but go for a either short or long bushwalk to spectacular views of the cliif lines looking over backstairs passage and Kangaroo island. I think there is also a short 4wd trip there but i haven't done it the times i've been there. Easter may have a few people there though.

Have a look at the SA NP&WS web site for photos of the place. If there is another place within a couple of hours of Adelaide with better coastal views I'd like to know.

Other than that the limestone coast has great views basically all along.

On the Eyre penin then Coffin Bay or Lincoln NP are excellent places and my missus, who also oves the coast, is always at me to go camping there. She doesn't usually like camping so that says it all!

Mmmmm my memory goes back to 1970 yeh Eagle on the Hill overlooking the lights of Adelaide is where I popped the question, of course there are many places and one to mind would be at the Barossa Brauhaus Hotel, at Angaston, after a nice meal you go to Menglers hill Lookout

Around 15 km north of PT Vincent on Yorke Peninsula you will find a little area called Sheok Flats (all gravel roads). When you travel down to the boat ramp here it is truly beautiful and remote .My grandfather constructed the park bench that faces the ocean on the beach. Here would be a great place to propose.if you go right on the beach and walk 1k and look up to yourright there is a cave with a view of st vincent gulf. Here would be another nice place.MAke sure it is high tide tho as the water goes out a long way.I remember as a boy exploring 1k offshore when the tide was out stirring up the sand crabs and stingrays but when the tide was coming back in it would match your fastest walk back in!Another good place is just before u decend to Pt Vincent at the top of the hill.A truly breathtaking sight.

Close to the city? Windy Point overlooking the city at night, especially just after the sun has gone down. If you are feeling well stocked with cash, the views from the restaurant there are fantastic and the food is pretty good as well.
But the best. Climb St Mary's Peake in the Flinders Ranges and check the view of the Ranges to the north. I'd do it on a cooler day however. Its a longish hard walk from Wilpena Pound.

Mate, it depends how secluded you want to go. I see abover some Flinders views are suggested and they are very good as is the Eyre Peninsula, but you can get really secluded and go to somewhere like the Painted Desert. So secluded that a picture advertised on The Australian site a couple of weeks back said it was only known to some locals and the pilot who took the photos. Rupert did of course neglect readers of EO who have known for some years

My two favourites:
The beaches south of Robe. Though it doesn't show up well in this photo, the coast line is, I think, stunning.

!MPG:3!

And the Flinders Ranges

!MPG:4!

Neither photo is particularly good, but it gives you a bit of an idea. Good luck!

Mt Gill, Warraweena Conservation Park, Flinders Ranges. 980m above sea level with fantastic views over the Ranges.

And you can drive all the way up there.

Cheers

All of the advice looks good. It depends on lots of things but if you are both interested in the outback then a couple spring easily to mind. The view from Silliers Lookout at the end of the Ridgetop tour at Arkaroola and the view from any of the points around Wilpena Pound. Sadly you have to walk to the latter.

The front verandah of Grindell's Hut in the Gammon Ranges. Or Bendleby Ranges on the North South Ridge at a place we call cocktail point at sunset.

Or Kangaroo Island almost anywere

Regards

Any where in the back seat of the car with the windows fogged up. Doesn't matter about the view as who cares what the view is like.
It sounds like you like camping and she doesn't. Is that a recipe for a good marriage? Make sure that it is her that changes.

Des,
your right about that, have been slowly changing her, she loved our trips to kangaroo island, and robe, but they were just long weekend trips.

thats part of why i want to propose while camping, help give the experience some positive and happy memories and connections.

at this stage am thinking either coffin bay, or innes national park as recommended above, both look pretty good.

Try blindfolding her, driving to a small airport and taking her up in a light plane over the city at sunset. You get to watch the sun going down and the city lights coming on.

Thats how I proposed to my first wife over Perth. You can then go out for a romantic candlelight dinner then either home or to a nice hotel room to seal the deal if she said yes.

Take her 4WDing the next day.

Cheers ... Taz

You can bang a rock, on the cairn, on top of Mt Carnarvon about halfway around the Skytrek self drive on Willow Springs Stn in the Flinders, you can camp there too and they even have hot showers.

We ( YP4wd club, and others, ) are all going to be at the 60th Anniversary celebrations of Woomera over easter, you are welcome to come join us and we will help you find a good spot, a real desert setting with red dust and dry saltbush, or red mud if its raining, and show her a good camping experience too.

Cheers Pesty

Pesty,

Any room for a TLCCSA ring in. Saw some photo's from one of your trips yhere and it sounded really interesting plus I have no plans yet for EAster.

Would ask your el Pesidento but I just bagged him in your water pump fan post.

Otherwise I might just have to join your club as well to get a ticket but then you would be stuck with me for twelve months.!

Anyway, we encourage Adelaidians to come along with us on trips. Even Melbournians. Once they've been on a trip with the Roachmeister, they're hooked for life; they can't get their chequebook out quick enough to pay the subs and join up. I have that uncanny ability to stuff-up soooo frequently, I have all members in perpetual stitches , RAOFLTAO..... ;-)) So, you'd be more than welcome....

Hi David,
You and a group of yota owners would be welcome to come with us at easter, as the Roachmaster sorta said we enjoy good company.
Not really a 4wd trip, but should be interesting, its the 60th anniversary of Woomera and there will be lots of things going on, they have a web site for the event, but I dont have it, shouldnt be hard to find though.
All accom is long boooked, but we will go as usual self surficient and find a patch to make a camp, lots of options around the town.
We were there on a Range tour late last year when we were told of the event, and we always enjoy our woomera visits.
We have a muck-up award at our club and each month someone gets it for the month, well actually since Roachie came along we now have 2, and he has this knack of getting at least 1 if not 2 on a regular basis hahahahaha , so regular in fact Annette cleans it on the shelf with the rest of the house as she thinks its his to keep ahhahahaah

Cheers Pesty

Don't worry about the right place. Just get the timing right.
You will spend hours trying to get everything perfect and then something will happen to take the gloss off it. Planning is the worst thing to do.
Spontaneity and timing are the key and if that happens to be camping then thats OK.

But if you reall;y want to remember and cherish the moment then make sure it is the right moment.
