We need to get a tyre pump but there are heaps available - the old one has got lost in antiquity and are looking for suggestions on what to get. We have a 4x4, dual axle van and a trailer. Driving mainly highway with a little off road, not beach work. We are not in a real hurry but reckon 5 minutes would be max time to wait to inflate from flat.
Any one suggest what to look at?

Have a look at the ARB ones, They are not the quickest but nearly all parts are replacable. They come in various types. I have the one in it's own box.
Cheers Kev

Hi Turist,
I have had an ARB pump for many years and it is still going strong. But I would recommend the Max-Air. It is MUCH fatser than virtually all other compressors, better priced and has a much longer warranty. And it's the one I will get when my ARB one finally does die.
Cheers
Captain

A tyre pump is a long-term investment - you can move it from one vehicle to the next and you want one that won't pack up in the middle of a trip.
I have a Blue Tongue 111 (from Opposite Lock) which would be 6 years old now, and had a heap of use without an issue. American made by Thomas back then.

I am with Phil on this one, Blue Tongue or Big Red.
Both come from the same factory and are very good pumps.

We'll wouldn't you know it!!!!...........I have a Bluetongue 3 as
well. Bought from the same place about 5 years ago. Also still going strong. Cost an arm and a leg at that time( methinks $450 ). But it gets used frequently.

Geeze Willem, you have fine taste in air pumps :-)))
Mine was just under $400 with club discount, but theres weren't all the cheapies back then. Think the updated version is a little cheaper now.

Yes the ones mentioned are all good pumps.
The most practical type come in their own box which makes them extremely portable.
