Orders are now being taken by Holden Dealers for 1st Customer deliveries in July for the new imported H3 Hummer.

Available in 3 models:-
H3 from $51,990
H3 Adventure from $57,990
H3 Luxury from $59,990

Only available in a 3.7 litre in-line 5 cylinder petrol engine developing peak power of 180kw @ 5600 rpm. Official Fuel consumption is given at 13.7 litres per 100 km.

The Adventure model (only available in 5 speed manual transmission) includes a locking rear diff.

Other models available in either 5 speed manual or 4 speed Automatic transmission.

Pity there is no diesel option. Again GM (Holden) has discarded the need for this, the same as they did with the VE Commodore.
Silly Buggers.

Steve,

Ha! ha!

Actually, I've demanded that her next Company lease car is to be a Hummer, so I can "test drive it" before deciding to buy.

Wish they had a diesel option though.

I'm a spoilsport - tapered my canopy so it doesn't collect the trees.
Reminds me of an OKA I saw on the Anne Beadell once. We stopped for a chat and asked him how he got on with all the overhanging trees - he said he just ploughed through them. Then I saw a heap of "tree" hanging out of his air intake high up. He spent the next 15 minutes pulling bits of tree out :-))

It's okay Phil, my box is tapered in too....but I will have the HF antenna poking up a bit.......can see it in my mirror, so will just have to keep an eye on it when I'm in gnarly country......
Don't take any notice of anything that Pesty dude says......

Gday Roachie,
Don't mind Pesty - anyone with a 61series can't be too bad!
Canopies are nice bits of gear. I'd guess you've had fun working out how to subdivide the space. My son's had eyes on mine and is taking it away next week - he's already asked me if he can have it for easter - thats something for you to look forward to when the kids get older :-))

I've also had to hide the HF at the back - one day I'll make a swinging bracket so it swings out and gets better clearance for transmitting. Always shed jobs to do

cheers
phil

Should be interesting to see how it goes in the Aussie conditions. A touch smaller than a 100 series externally but some how they lost 150mm of hip room & more importantly 350mm of cargo space. (only 800mm behind the seats) With a payload of only 429kg (including passengers) & a fuel tank of just 87 Litres it will need plenty of modifications before they head outback. Despite the more than reasonable power output towing too seems an issue with a maximum of only 1.3 tonne in a manual version. Some impressive approach, departure & ramp over angles disguise the fact it still uses leaf rear end, torsion bar front & monotube shocks...........the more I dig the closer I seem to be getting to the true purpose of this vehicle......... driver information centre with 26 alerts in 3 different languages, MP3 / 6 stacker CD player, leather steering wheel cover, leather heated seats, touch screen navigation, chrome appearance package (I love that one) ..............Can't load it up? Can't tow with it? Not built for the outback? Short range? It can only be one thing..........yes it's just another SUV for dropping the kids off at Toorak upper primary school ;-)) Pity it wasn't more like it's big brother.
Cheers Craig..............

Folowed by some not so good

Sounds to be a worthy competitor to the Jeep Cherorkee but we will have to see if it ever gets here

Here's a couple of interesting quotes on the H3 from your links........You've got to love the Yanks ;-)

"The H3 is only good for looking at. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that this is a lease and they will have their piece of crap back in two years."

"This thing works awesome for what I use it for. Mostly commuting, but my driveway is a 500 yard dirt path through the woods," :-))))

"My Hummer regularly outperforms my Jeep companions. They hate it when this occurs because they have their pride also. If your going to drive a Hummer, be prepared for the haters."

"The H3 can run anywhere the Jeeps can until you start talking about super modified trail only rigs."

"...and got 18 mpg. Upon returning from our trip, we spoke to our dealer about improving the mileage, booked it into the shop and had a B&B exhaust and a cold air intake installed. I am happy to report that I now average 21 mpg, have gotten as high as 25 mpg,"

32 in. P265/75R16 all terrain tyres with full-sized spare on the standard version.
16 x 17.5in chrome aluminium wheels on the Luxury & Adventure models.
Doesn't mention tyre brand but the size is common & easy to get a variety of patterns unlike Rover & Toyota who are getting into the 17 & 18 inch wheels.
The yank without the CD changer must have been an earlier model?
Cheers Craig......

There are quite a few clips of the H3 in action on youtube.com

I didn't view any that showed it doing anything spectacular.
