Hi, Have a 2003 prado V6 4L Petrol - starting to investigate doing a gas conversion. Are there any pitfalls or major differences between the various commercial offering on conversion. Johns Howards $2000 rebate makes the proposition worth considering. Thanks in advance

Benter, I have a 2005 model that I briefly started investigating putting on gas when I first bought it.
A local conversion company here in the Sutherland Shire of Sydney told me (July 2006) then that a direct injection conversion would be available in a few months but not sure of the cost.
A bloke from the local Toyota dealership told me that it is not recommended due to the plastic intake manifold or something like that, and I think Toyota don't recommend gas conversions to their vehicles anyway. I know there are people out there who have done it, but this just from my experience.
As I don't have to pay for my fuel anyway, I never looked into it further.
cheers,
Dobbo

I got Tartarini SGI system for a year now Done 35K on LPG. No major problems.
With the $2000 rebate prices for the systems gone up by up to 1000K, so you
are really only getting $1000 back....

Eric,

The system was supplied by VAGS and fitted by Auto Gas Connections.
Both of them in Carrum Downs.

A mate at work just purchased a 01 prado from melb city yota, got them to organise a gas fitment ( 2 weeks v's months for public) quoted $ 2500 for old style venturi gas / $ 4000 for injection. hes going old school - only costing him $500 !!! lucky mongrel..

I got quoted $3800 old / $4800 injec. for the jackaroo.

A few guys at work have recent systems from impco fitted by supergas, very good setups with no dramas. I think theres not that much difference with the hardware, but it all comes down to the installation quality.
