Gotta mate with a Magellan Explorist 600.
Apparantly turn by turn street navigation software called 'Direct Route' or 'Street by Street' has been released a few weeks ago in Oz for these newer units.
Anyone had experience with this yet?????????????

Junior

I heard a rumour re this a few weeks ago, and looked at the 'News' on the Next Destination (Magellan distributor) site and there is no mention of it.

I checked again just now and still no mention of it. I believe it is available in the USA, so maybe that's where the mix-up lies.

Perhaps someone else can throw some light on it.

Have a look on the Nextdestination site under Magellan - Maps, Charts & Software and scroll down to the bottom where you should see DiscoverAus Street by Street software. Comes on an SD card and cost is $350.

Pretty expensive methinks.

I wouldn't bother..

Keep reading the site, about route recalculation. If you miss a turn, you have to manually go through the menu & press buttons. Just about every other system like Tomtom or Copilot will update the route automatically, in seconds.

Mind you, they usually want a U turn at the next traffic lights! But at least you don't have to stop.
