In Mar 05 you foreshadowed exactly the trip we are planning for Jul/Aug this year -
Coober Pedy to Ularu via Anne Beadell, Connie Sue and Gunbarrell.
We would be very grateful for any advice you or others might have. How long did it take? Did you go off the main tracks to any
places that shouldn't be missed (like
Sydney Yeo Chasm off the Connie Sue)? Were there any particularly good
camp sites we should aim for? etc.
Having done that trip, do you think we would feel up to returning to
Sydney via the Simpson?!
Thanks.

Fizz
Firstly- no probs with
camp sites. Just pull off the track into a
clearing.
Our itinerary:
Coober Pedy- Camera C location- Just W of Vokes
Hill Cnr-
Camp 1 location WA- Just N of
Neale Junction- about 40k S of
Warburton- Warakurna-
Yulara.
A few POIs. not necessarily in order:
Waterfall Gorge, Taralinga
Well, Plane Wreck- Ilkulka (and give Bill the dog a cookie)- Bugabiddy
Rockhole- The Bomb Totems-
Giles Weather Station, make time to see the balloon go up and a tour of the station-
there is an aboriginal
rock site at the
Neale Junction end, unfortunately this had been bastardized by the inconsiderates. I will send you details of an undistrurbed site. I will go thru our trip notes and advise you of other interests.
Others will have heaps of suggestions, and enjoy the trip. Are you going solo ?? The track thru the Unnamed (now named) Conservation Park is ROUGH !!
As far as doing the Simpson at the same time- I can envisage no probs. We had 'dirt road withdrawal' out of
Yulara, so we went via Mulga Park & Victory Downs.

Thanks Signman.
I find it hard to come to terms with the morons that can't leave things as they find them, both for the intrinsic value of the things themselves and also for the enjoyment of people coming later.
You've mentioned a few POIs I wasn't aware of, and I'll be researching them. Any further info appreciated.
I read about
Sydney Yeo Chasm and
Waterfall Gorge on the recently added Trek notes for the
West Great Victoria Desert - at this stage we're planning to
camp at the SYChsm.
Probably 2 vehicles - my Troopy and brother-in-law's new Terracan (if he gets it in time).
Looks like we might see water in the BigPond!
Cheers,
Graham.
