Is anyone aware of any problems with installing a snorkel if you run on gas ? Best regards.

Wouldn't think so Bernie.

The snorkel is to allow the Engine to breathe cleaner and reduce the chance of ingesting water. Should be no problem IMO.

You may have to re-tune the mixture a tad afterwards, otherwise no problems.

My brother had a snorkel on his 80 series 4.5L petrol landcruiser and years ago I had fitted a snorkel to my FJ62 Sahara Landcruiser. Both of these were dual fuel vehicles.
Both had minor problems with breaking down under load at high speed when running on gas. A gas installer on the Gold Coast suggested fitting a balance hose which ran inside the snorkel up to the ram head.
I can't remember much about it but it had something to do with the pressure from the forced air going into the snorkel was playing up with the diaghram in the mixer. I think the purpose of the hose was to equalize the pressure onto the other side of the diaghram and neither of us ever had another problem again.
Any gas installer should be able to advise if this is necessary as there are some new types of LPG installations now that might be different.

Regards,
Brett

As per above response, when I looked into getting a snorkel for the Trol which is on dual fuel they advised I would also need a balance pipe to equalise the pressure. The way I understand it is that the snorkel produces more of a "ram" pressure than normal and it can cause the gas to run too lean if there is not this pipe installed to equalise it.

Haven't had it fitted yet so can't comment from experience however investigating a number of options has come up with the conclusion that in most cases a re-tune is necessary

Hi, The 2 x saharas I had on dual fuel had no issues (safari snorkel), The 80 series 4.5 (airtech) sometimes played up at high revs but only if I gave it a bootfull. If I accelerated gently it was ok. The 105 series has been fine with the snorkel (safari) no power loss even when given a bootfull.
