Hope this helps.

I emailed these same guys quite some time ago and asked the same question "where are they made" and you know what my exact reply was....."what difference does it make. !!" Needless to say he didnt get my business.
It wouldn't have mattered to me anyway, I was just curious, and probably would have bought them, but not with a reply like that. You know what they say... If its too hot in the kitchen, then get out!

Thanks A - looks promising - I may need to contact them. I know where to buy TD's - but it's the old chestnut of "after sales customer service and support" that is a current question !

Re web searches - TD's seem to be born in a 'never world' - searching here and there turned up nothing for me - my USA made units on the Campomatic have been great, but there seems to be no useful manufacturer's name on them - TD is probably nothing more than a sticker, as you say - I'm sure shocker marketing could only be trickier if Aust. federal pollies were doing it !

I recall in an article in either 4 x 4 Australia or 4WD Monthly that Tough Dog shocks are made in the USA or Mexico by a company that generically makes many of the popular branded shocks on our market.
If I recall correctly the main owner of the company was Monroe and therefore many of the popular aftermarket (and more expensive) shocks are simply rebadged Monroes. I also believe that there is only basically this company in the USA that manufactures the shocks and only the European manufacturers are independant of them.
I also believe that majority of the specialised shocks are manufactured in Mexico with the USA being the basic models.
I also believe that OL were the first to import Tough Dogs but there are a couple of other importers - I think Rancho is one of them.
I have just got read of all my magazines so I wont be able to quote an offical mag or issue number.

Hell - every sentence here should be able to carrie at least one typo ! - I usually make sure they do ! ......maybe except in the case of corrections for spelling though ... he he)..... No - seriously Karl ..................
Your picture largely rings true re the smoke and mirrors of the shock marketing game - 10% manufacturing and 90% marketing..... that would explain why my shocks are stamped made in the USA but have no ID as to the actual maker.

Thanks
Gordon - facts noted - I'm resting the tough dogs for awhile while I get the rubber bushing sorted - went to a wrecker and bought two gas shocks to suit the trailer's spec - they are painted all pretty and now on - $30 the pair - hell - even the bushes were good - what are they - Gabriels ! The shocker world is obviously much smaller than some counter-spivs would have us believe !
