Please help.....
I bought this 99 model Prado and realised that the previous owner had a dog for the last 6 years in the car. There was hair every where and after a good job by the VIP CAR CARE people; it is a bit better, but the smell is still there.??
What to do??
I read somewhere that I should change the filter in the air con. system.
Anybody out there with similar experience?
Any advise is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time
Josef

Hi Josef
Look in the cleaning aisle at your supermarket for a product called Nil odour (odor)?.
It's a little pump pac and is very good.

Spray it around inside the prado and shut vehicle up for a while, an hour or two in the shade.
May need to repeat the treatment over a few days but should do the job OK.

If it can kill my farts it will work on any doggy odours.

Cheers

Well Josef S, I can only recommend Bio Magic, available at camping stores. 500ml bottle = $13, and the only thing that has worked on everything I've used it for. It's primary purpose is Porta Potti's, but I have used it on residual cat smells and they are gone. I also use it in cat's litter tray and best results there too. I make up a 50/50 solution in a (very small) spray bottle and spray the area needing it and odours disappear for good. The odours do not come back when the air is heavy with humidity or lingering rain is about. Read about this Aussie made product at this site:-

Good luck,
OzeSheila.

Good advice Au-2,

Bio Magic is also available in a 250 ml pump spray pack for uses exactly such as this.

Josef S:

Words fail me.
Obviously the car was traded sometime around '01, yair?
Initial owner may/may not have carried pets (Llamas were fashionable back then), for a year or so.
Next owner installed a Dog.
(Praise the Lord he chose a Dog. Not a Tom Cat).

Two possible solutions bloom/blossum before us:-
1. Get that Vippy mob to fulfill the contract details. (You did tell them that dog odour,[or are we talking Dog Cadaver Odour here? ] was the target) ?
2. Take gp's advice. Get a mutt from the pound.
3. I was about to describe techniques which (in our present state of 'alert, not Alarmed' situation), could quite easily result in a privileged/priority flight for me or those close to me to Egypt or other sultry destinations. I defer. JH.

Hey Josef.

You can try Febreeze, tat you can buy from the supermarket, about $5.50 a bottle, you may need to spray a few times depending on the strength of the odour but it does have a nice smell to it unlike (personally talking) the Nil Odour. Well to me any way I cannot stand the smell of that stuff! Give the febreeze ago, you can use it on any fabric or even just spray in the air and it works great. (house wife experience talking here!!!)

Cheers
Jo

Sprinkle bicarb soda into the carpet and upholstery - leave as long as you like - then vaccuum out - cheap, effective - used it on diesel spill in car - smell gone within 1 - 2 days.
