A few months back I stumbled across a photo on a web site of an outback pub that had shirt sleeves hanging from the ceiling. My wife recently saw this photo and demanded that I take her there but I'm buggered if I can remember where this pub was. Can anyone out there help my to locate this pub. My marriage may depend on it
Cheers
Steve

Pardoo Roadhouse north of
Port Hedland WA used to do this. They had an outdoor
pool table too. Somewhere there they had a set of my khaki King Gee sleeves hanging up.
I also have graffiti in the Broad Arrow pub, a hat at the
Menzies and plenty of holes in the wall around the wheel of fortune dart board at the
Palace Hotel in
Ravensthorpe too.
Most of these cool things have become touristy now or have disappeared.

My son was telling me that at least one
mine site has a tree of boots. When someone leaves, they hang their boots from the tree.
I'll bet the tree's dead !

theres a tree of bottles and a tree of thongs - or is it shoes, on the Nullabor near the border - from memory on the WA side.

Andrew, yep. The concept is hardly unique, many outback tracks are sadly lined with bottles and cans. Much better to have them all in one place perhaps...such as a rubbish tip.
There are pubs (as you know) that end up collecting all sorts of things, ladies undies being a favourite. The pub at Willem Creek collected writing on the wall...which my daughter, being an avid reader at age 6, was happy to read aloud until we moved her along a bit.

The boot tree is located at the hell hole known as Telfer. I'd forgotten about that one, but I suspect it's 'repressed memory syndrome'.
I threw my boots at it, bleep over it, flicked my ciggie butt at it and caught the next plane out about 15 years ago. Didn't even pick up my belongings. Hate every inch of that place.

You and my son definately have something in common LOL Although his boots were probably a bit newer, he didn't stay all that long.
Not sure where Telfer actually is. I thought it was a gold
mine near
Wiluna ?

Footy,
"Willem Creek" or "William Creek" ???
The historic
William Creek Hotel on the
Oodnadatta Track has it's walls, ceilings and some of the Bar covered in business cards. (And an ExplorOz Card I left last year)
Part of the original bar is
heritage listed and no "coverage" of this bar is allowed.

Hi Steve,
The "Tyre Tree" on the Lasseter Highway prompted a book full of tyre tree jokes during a trip to Uluru in 2003. Some of these were printed in "Outback" Issue 31. Returned to the shrine in 2005 and the tree was still standing. Hopefully there'll be another journey in 2007.

Steve,
Take your wife to the
Daly Waters Pub off the Stuart Highway in the NT and see if she can try the fit of the garments suspended from the ceiling.
One pair of "objects" are very large indeed. (not panties either)
The Mungerannie Pub is renowned for the collection of hats on its ceiling.
