i got some feed back from a couple of u guys that reckon a rav4 will be no good for the trek from braidwood to bendethra valley. but i have seen photos of Subaru foresters doing it. surely the rav cant be that much worse then a forester.
if this is to difficult for the rav is there a easier way in or even a different track in the area more suited to the rav?
thanks.

I've seen RAV 4s in there before, even a VW Kombi once.

scooby,

There are 3 ways to get into Bendethera Valley.

The way that you wanted to go in from Braidwood is the second hardest way to go.There are a few good hills to climb and decent. Climbing the rocky hills are the problem as well as the lack of clearance.

The hardest way to go is along the Merricumbene Fire Trail.

The easy way is the all weather track comes in from Moruya via the Sugarloaf road.

The big problem is getting from the end of Sugarloaf Rd to the camp site and back again. Steep climbs and descents on a clay track. If it is dry and there is another vehicle willing to help you if you loose grip.

I have seen vehicles down there that should not be there but they were also with other 4wd vehicles.

If you were going with other vehicles you should be alright, if it does not rain, but if going alone I would not like to do it.

After recent upgrades apparently the western access is now 2wd to the top of the hill into the valley from the Braidwood road.
