Moruya - NSW

On the banks of the beautiful Moruya River in the Eurobodalla region of the NSW South Coast, Moruya is a surprising destination with a host of adventurous pursuits complemented by tranquil scenery and beautiful beaches.The area is rich in history with Quarry Park, just north of the town on the river, the site that provided the granite for many of Sydney’s landmarks including the pylons of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.Moruya has a great range of activities. Enjoy beach time at a host of lovely spots including Shelly Beach at Moruya Heads – visit the Moruya Heads lookout for views of the mouth of the Moruya River and maybe spot whales during the migration. Head south for the superb beaches at Congo and Bingi, as well as the scenic Bingi Bingi Point.Go for a paddle in a kayak along the river, or stretch yourself on the Moruya Kayaking Trail which is actually two trails – a 14km round trip in pretty surrounds to the east and a 12km paddle out to Deau National Park to the west. Cyclists will enjoy the Moruya Cycleway which runs along the river from town to Moruya Heads past Preddey’s wharf which is a popular fishing spot with locals.Places to stay in Moruya are plentiful and varied, including motels, holiday parks, campgrounds and houses to rent.
