Hi All.
Just wondering if anyone has information on
Stanage Bay (North of
Rockhampton)
Accommodation, Supplies and road in. Any information would be great. We have heard that it has great fishing.
Cheers
Rob

Robert A
There is camping on the esplanade (free last time we were there) and houses for rent.
Fuel, food and pub.
Road in is dirt but no problem towing a boat in.
There is no town water available, so if you are camping you have to take water.
There is a web site for the
general store. Just google.
Very nice spot to
camp for a week.
Regards

Hi Rob went up there a few months ago with my
young bloke for some camping and fishing .Top spot, tried land based fishing at several locations and caught heaps of fish except nearly all were undersize. Since then I have heard the same thing from quite a few other people.
Great camp spot right on
the beach close to the local store ,and road is pretty good on the way in....Scott

Watch the Road to
Stanage Bay if it's wet, It gets VERY slippery.
As for land based Fishing, I caught heaps but they were all under size.

Greg,
You could probably do
well on some of the close Reefs, Also there are lots of BIG Mudcrabs there so take a couple of Crab Pots.
And don't forget the Estuary Fishing Barra,
Mangrove Jack, Fingermark.
I think the trick will be picking the weather, It can get fairly windy out there.

Greg
With your tinnie you can access some of the Reef Islands and when we were there
last year the blokes with boats were doing very
well.
Great camp spot, first 30 klms were a bit rough but it settled after that - usual thing drop tyre pressure a bit on the tow and trailer.
Go for a drive into the "suburbs"as
well they have some great
views.
