Mr Fawlty
May have had a victory with this idiot, phoned me on mobile from India offering me a "free mobile phone which is totally and absolutely obligation free" I answered every question with the response "YES" including the multiple choice ones about am I married single or divorced ? YES
So I will await developments with great interest, if as often happens and the postal contractor just leaves the parcel in the driveway & I drive over it then discover my error and write "Return to sender" on it and place it in a mail box I wonder if that will have me taken off their list?

What about this problem. 4yrs ago I had a call from one of these people about a great deal on a mobile phone. Was already with telstra so very politely said NO.
Two months later I received an invoice from some crowd in
Sydney charging me for the phone [ which I didnt have] and the 1st months usage $79.00 with no calls made. Rang them and told them the story but the monthly invoicies kept coming.
After several more calls I gave up and started throwing the invoices in the bin.
The invoices stopped coming about 2yrs ago and I finally thought..thankyou very much. About 6 months ago I applied for a new credit card and to my suprise was knocked back. Always had a clean credit history.
Chap at the bank suggested I contact Baycorp and sure enough the debt was registered with them. I, still to this day, cannot get it cleared but still trying.
Im amazed that no matter how careful you are about your personal details someone can do this to you with one simple phone call..........Lionel.

Lodge a formal complaint with the TIO. It will force the company to respond as it costs the phone company money everytime you call them

I have the opposite story.
I said yes to 'the best deal ever' from Telstra, but on the proviso there was a cooling off period when they would send me their offer in writing so I could compare what I already had and make an informed decision. Their offer never came, I realised I was better off on my current provider and I cancelled the deal.
Then I got an invoice from Telstra - sigh, here we go I thought. It was for a credit so I ignored it. A month later, another credit came for over $300, being all the incentives they offered me that were going to 'come off the first bill'. I rang to tell them this was not my money and to take me off their books, only to be told that indeed it was my money and they would send me a cheque!
That was a few days ago and the cheque hasn't arrived yet, but there's part of me that's saying this just aint right. The other part of me will put it towards some window tinting for the cruiser!
Tim
