As I get older I find it harder to read the dark
orange dials on the speedo, tacho and trip meter/odometer. Has anyone ever heard of replacement instrument panel faces to make them easier to read?

Look at other models of the same vintage as sometimes different trim levels have different instruments.
Alternatively find an instrument repair place that can redo the faces in your choice of colour.
Have you tried brighter globes or differnt colour globes?

Have you got them at the maximum brightness there is a control on the left of the dash obscured by the steering wheel to adjust this, Rhys.

Hey dogoffthechain,
Know the problem.
You can't change from driving glasses to reading glasses every time you want to see what speed you are doing :O
Trying to remember what the NL guages look like, but I think they have an electronic speedo, while the NH has a cable speedo ?
As Rhys suggested, you could repaint
the needles.
Or highlight the important speeds like 60,80,100.
Or get a new pair of glasses? Had your eyes checked lately to see if the glasses match, or get some that are not quite as long distance? Just had a brilliant idea - bifocals?
Didn't Benjamin
Franklin invent those about 300 years ago for the same problem, trying to look in the distance and read without changing glasses.

Have a look on eBay. I don't know what years an NH Pajero covers but there is a guy always selling glowing instrument panels for , I think 1991 to 1996 Pajeros.
Of course, they might be worse than the
orange!

Had a similar problem last year and my optometrist said that I had cateracts. It can come on quite rapidly and you dont notice the changes. Got the op after some soul searching and all is great now - the operation is done under local anisthetic and takes 10 minutes - longer getting a cup of tea and sandwich after while you are recovering. Everything looks so
bright now. Ask your optician to
check.

Thank you all for the info. Yes rheostat is turned up all the way and I am short sighted so need glasses to drive but not read (yet). I think the problem is when you go from
bright sun outside then try to re-focus on instrument deep in the binnacle in deep shade, but I do like the idea of getting an instrument repairer to have a look. Good idea many thanks to all.
