Just returned from 3 days at Fraser and I must say it doesn't get any better than that. Every time I go there I want to stay there forever. Conditions was perfect not many people and tracks was easy.
Hook Point was passable roughly 2 hours before and after low tide but you don't want to leave it any later than that.
One thing that really annoyed me was the amount of rubbish on the beaches.......plastic bags beer bottles all the nasties. I picked up what I could by why can't other people clean up their own mess?

Hi Troll
Rubbish on beach most likely comes from ocean going merchant ships plying the trade route between Australia and Asia.
Agree, Fraser is a magic place.
Cheers

Yes I did have that thought but I saw at least 50 ice bags....they are not from the ships....but yes I do agree that some rubish will be from the ships

the really frustrating thing is the amount of rubbish that appears between each of our Fraser Island Clean ups. (the QAFWDC that is)
Certainly a lot comes from the ocean, particulalrly around
Hook Point, but there is also plenty left by ferals around their beach campsites.
As much as we get a good feeling having done our bit to clean up, it would still be better if they cleaned up after themselves...

We cleaned up the first
campsite we came across at Tassie, but had so much stuff, we couldn't do much elsewhere. Couldn't believe how much
toilet paper floats in the breeze down there.
Clean-up Australia Day was only 2 weekends ago.

The worst rubbish dump we have ever seen was on the west coast of
Cape York up near the Peenyfather.
I picked some up just to see what it really was, all the plactic bottles were labelled in Indonesian. I figured most of it had come from fishing boats but I have wondered since then how much of it actually comes from mainland Indonesia.
