My 3200 has not been any problems at all.
Just to clarify -
mine is a Maserati 3200-GT Spyder 2001 Model
It turns on Ok everytime I take it for a drive.
Ive never had any blank screens. That sounds strange.
Then again - i didnt buy
mine second hand. Maybe you've been sold a pup.
Wish you luck.

3200 - sounds like you got the no-frills economy version!!
And does spyder mean roof-at-extra-cost?

Gee there's some really helpful people on this site.
Although I don't own a GME, I would assume it may have an internal fuse to protect it. Have a look at the back of the unit and see if you can find a fuse holder of some sort.
If the unit is mounted in a vehicle, it probably has an in-line fuse somewhere on the +ve power cable. Trace the cable from the back of the unit to where it connects to either a +ve cable under the dash, or perhaps back to the battery in the engine bay.

If posters are too light on details they should expect to be rubbished. It only takes a few extra key strokes to form an intelligent sentence.

If posters are too light on details maybe someone should point out that they need to provide a little more information for someone to help them. World would be a lot nicer place with some more widespread common courtesy.

C'mon Peter,
I had no trouble deciphering what was being asked.
I belong to this
forum to help others if I can, as
well as obtain valuable input from others.
I like a bit of humour, but in cases like this I could recognise the poster was not a regular, therefore courtesy is the best approach.
"It only takes a few extra strokes" to ask for clarification if one doesn't understand.

Have you checked for power at the back of the unit, with a mulitmeter??
If there is power there, then, umm, I don't think there is an internal fuse, give the power connection a wriggle with the unit on and see if anything happens.
failing any of that, you may need to see a repair
shop, (or call GME, I have always found them to be very helpful with technical questions)

Normally there is a diode internally to protect the units (even though they are fused). If you have power on the leads and the fuse is okay, this could be your next step eg: will need a techo to change it out.

If you have power to the unit have you checked the negative is OK back to the battery/chassis.

Hi sxc, I think the 3200 is the same as the tx 3400 without the remote head.
Mine is a 3400 and did the same thing in June last year and was covered under warranty. It had power but would not turn on, on the screen it had a very small tx3400 but did nothing else. GME told me that it had a few faults but cant remember what they where. In dec it did the same thing again and they actually replaced the main unit even though it was out of warranty at that stage. I have no idea as to what the repair cost may be but talk to GME

Hi,
I have a GME TX3200 that has done this twice in the last 12 months. I have had my unit for about 6 years, so
well and truely out of warranty.
Having a bit of knowledge in electronics I opened
mine up and had a good look around to see if I could fix.
The first time I had it apart "it came back to life" after I had removed and cleaned the connections on the front display board.
The second time I figured that there must be a problem on the display board and I spent some considerable time (with the help of a maginifying glass and
bright light) examining the solder connections on the front board.
I found a hair line crack in one of the solder joints and touched it up with my soldering iron. It has worked fine since.
This sort of work is not for the average handyman though, as the 3200 is all surface mount components.
So unless you have the skills, you proably will have to take it to a GME repair centre.
Cheers,
Mal
