Gday Hard Yaka. I just got some prices for a mate's Patrol. BFG's in 285/70/R17 came in at $465 fitted each at Bob Janes Karratha. I just picked up 2 BFG 265/70/R17 for my Prado (mate used to have Prado) for $465 (1 new 1 @80%) which is how i know the prices.
Good luck. Expensive Shiiites aren't they.

cool good to see another pilbara person, yep very pricey sometimes wonder if should just go to 16" mate just bought his patrol ute and got coopers st s 285/75r16's fitted for $265 each huge difference hey . did he have any drama's with the towing was told the bigger you go the more torque u lose and the sidewalls aint as strong which cause's the car to sway but dont know if any of that is true

Cheers :)

Unfortunately the Prado has alittle problem with brakes and rim spacing on the front if going to 16". My mate has the 4.2 GU 4 and is very happy with the torque (though he has just had a bigger turbo and exhaust fitted) so i'm not sure if he was happy before the upgrade. The BFG's i'm told are very good for the conditions up here but everyone has thier personal preferences. They do make the Patrol look taller. Mine on the Prado make it look considerably more aggressive.

Dont wonder if you should change, its $200 per tire cheaper for 16's. 16inch rims are only $100ea new.

We noted at Robe last yr, that the blokes with 17inch rims on GU's had to let tires down a lot more than everyone else to get the tires to bag out.

im starting to wonder if i should change to 16" i priced a 2 extra rims for the Trailer nissan std patrol 17" and $1030 each then gotta add tyres to that ....

in regards to letting tyres down i have noticed that alot on soft sand, When we go places on with soft sand we always have to lett tyres down to around 18psi but then can go almost anywhere towing the trailer ( with factory 17" tyres)

think will get the calculator out and work out wether 17" v's 16" with cash left over to buy new 16" rims

G'Day Hard Yaka, I have a GUIV 4.2TD and I am running BFG Muddy's 285/70/17 (33") and paid $370 each (Sydney).

As far as a power loss It could do with more low down torque, apparently a bigger dump pipe and exhaust overcomes that.

I have had BFG's on my rigs over 10 yrs no problems, the Cooper STT do look good though, there is still mixed opinions on them. Good luck.

I have a set of 16inch Speedie rims(advertised in trader section) with Eldorado 265x75x16 ZTR's. The whole lot going cheap. Eldorados have 80% wear left.

Also have 5 x Nissan alloys(GQ) and 5 Cooper STT's( but Coopers with 90% wear left are stuffed)
