Hi all
Updated to a 04 3ltr diesel Prado recently and have bin doing some testing on economy.
I have read somewhere I can expect around 10.5 to 100ks from the auto model but appear to be getting around 14ltr to 100ks.
Can servicing affect it ? its seems to be running ok!

What you read and what you get are entirely different.
It depends on your driving style, what you have in the vehicle, tyre pressures, tuningand a host of other things.
14 though is probably a little high.
I get 11.5/12 in my Discovery2.

14L / 100km - is that city or country? Economy sounds about right anyway.

It's the Auto D4D engines that are getting high 9's to low 10's in the city and high 8's to low 9's in the country.

Hi Alcoz
I have an 05 auto TD and get the same as you around town.
The best I have obtained is 12.6 per 100 between Sydney and Fraser Island.
The key is to keep the speed under 105kp/h. As soon as you start to push it the economy goes wayward. On my Fraser trip I kept the speed at or under 100kp/h and I did have a roof rack and roof bag on.
I think you will find the manuals get about a 10% improvement on the autos.
I have recently fitted a D Tronic and in 3 weeks I am leaving for a Cooby Pedy - Simpson Desert trip so it will be interesting to see what the economy does now.

I have an 04 TD Manual Prado. I was getting 12.7 to 13.5 l/100km until I put an ARB roofrack on it which added another litre per 100km.

Hi all
Thanks for that ! discovered I'm running oversised tyres which probably adds a kls.
I did the test on city driving, on my last trip I got 13/100 towing a camper so maybe that's the best can expect.
Cheers!
Al
