Hercules TerraTrac A/W- 265/75R16 fitted to HZJ75 Troopy.
Been on for 5250km- new tread depth 10mm, now about 9.5mm front, and just a 'mickey hair' under 10mm on the rear. On road tyre noise minimal, just enough to let you know they're not a highway tread.
Initial over-steer on the winding hills around here (compared to Bridgestones). I put this down to the softer (not necessarily weaker) sidewalls on the Bridgestone. A bit of playing with tyre pressures dialled this out, and handling now almost neutral.
OK- spent Saturday 'playing' in the Yengo N/P and the Howes Valley area. Conditions- WET. Sandstone outcrops, shaley, wet slippery clay and black mud. In all conditions I was very impressed with the tyres. No need for lockers in any situation, and in the mud- cleared easily, although did built up a bit in the red clay. Good traction on steep descents and ascents in very loose, wet shale. 4 other vehicles and all had different tyre brands and the Hercs. equalled or outperformed the other brands/types (including the high profile brands).
Sunday and it was Stockton Beach. Aired down to 20psi. Again no probs. in the sand. Judicious use of the throttle and attacking the sandhills (with a diesel engine) and no signs of digging in. The sand was reasonably firm in places, having had a fair bit of rain over the previous days.
Overall (in my opinion) a very good, value for money tyre.
