I'd second Tranciever Services. You get good prices and they don't treat you like an idiot. I've been to a couple of other places and not been that happy.

Electric Bug on Torrens Road, Croydon is an excellent place for advice and probably purchase as well. But compare the prices you are quoted from any business with Prestige Communicatons in Perth. You can order online and they will dispatch to you within a couple of days. Hard to beat their prices.

www.prestigecom.net.au/

The advantage of dealing with a local business of course is the selection and location of the UHF antenna. Again Electric Bug can give expert advice on this.
I received excellent advice and installation of a GSM/CDMA antenna they fitted to my vehicle.

Tranceiver Services are also a good source. In fact, I bought my UHF unit from them years ago, when they were located at Norwood. They sell all major brands, Uniden, GME and Icom, so you will get unbiased information, whatever your choice.

Hehehehe!

Well I guess my advice is biased because of my personal experience in buying equipment from all three businesses I mentioned:-)))

If you're looking to buy, you may wish to check out ebay seller
--> uhf_gps_plusmore <--

He's not in Adelaide, but not too far away.. Barossa region...

I bought a (GME) TX4600 + various other bits 'n' pieces from him a year or so ago, at far better prices than I've seen anywhere else (and that includes the much-vaunted Prestige Communications in Perth)... The final price is of course, at the discretion of the bidder(s), but he starts 'em at very attractive prices indeed...

Claims 22+ years in the industry, and from my observations, seems to know his stuff...

the usual disclaimer applies.. No association Yada-Yada, simply a satisfied customer:)

Alcoz,

I bought both my Uniden and the current tx3400 remote head from Electric Bug and are happy with the advice and service that they provided.

A mate has an Icom and personally I would not recommend them, too complicated.

GME are phasing out the TX3400 over the next few weeks and replacing it with a unit that has all the controls on the microphone. Maybe worth waiting to see what the unit is like and the $ involved.

The TX3400 are going on ebay for around $340 which is is actually the dealers cost and a lot come froma dealer in the Barossa ans mentioned in a previous post.

Good luck
