Hi, I reckon i already know the answer but, Does anyone know why the trek note for Calvert ranges to
Warri site have been deleted/moved?
We are off there in June and have all the info plus some local knowledge but was interested in seeing the notes anyway to get some GPS coords
Cheers, Rob

Suggest you email David/Michelle via "About Us" tab above.
They will give you the reason.
Better still, if you have OziExplorer, etc., you can create and submit a new treknote and receive a "reward" for doing so. Again, ask David/Michelle or probably Jackie, if a new treknote is required. They will give you the information you need to be able to record the details, photos etc.

Yep.
In the first place the trek notes were wrong. Not sure who was to blame but I brought it to the attention of the site owners. The trek notes stated that there was a track along the route. There isn't.
The route from Warri to Calvert Ranges lies within Martu Natitve Title area and permits will have to be applied for if such a trek is allowed in the future. I am sure that this will not be allowed as the Martu wish to manage access to the Calvert Ranges through the ANFWDC via the
Canning Stock Route
I knew that this was imminent and so decided to do the run last year. It was hard going over the spinifex and trying to avoid turpentine stakes. In the process I staked tyres 7 times as I was the lead vehicle and towing a trailer. It was very worthwhile though and we took lots of pics of the fantastic
rock art to be found in the area.
Now I will have to look for another remote area to go to.
Cheers

Then why weren't you driving along the track? Please elaborate.
There is no formal track but there may be some old wheel tracks from other expeditions. We came across some faint tracks which disappeared after a while. There were fresh tracks made by yourselves and Beadell Tours and others.
Would like some photos of your track please. Did you keep a track file? Finding fresh grass pushed down a week or so before does not constitute a track but rather just wheel tracks.

I said I saw the track on many occasions . That was in between the many occasions I lost it . When I say the track , I mean a vague set of wheel marks in the grass made by someone like us who was looking for an earlier set of wheel tracks .
The only time I would have called it a track was from a little ESE of the Mungkulu Ranges .
Nobody would want to follow our wheel tracks . We weren't lost , because we knew where we were , but.........
Between us ( three cars ) we had 17 punctures ( all staked sidewalls ).
Willie .

'Morning Willie
Yes, that makes more sense.
The track I found petered out about 1km south of Birrell
Rock Hole and then became just indiscrimate wheel tracks which disappeared from time to time depending on their age
Cheers
