Gentleman
I rang the rangers at
Birdsville today they tell me Eyre creek is rising where you cross it via the bypass but there is nothing to worry about the water is about a 1 foot deep 300mm or so and has a rocky bottom and is about 15 foot across say 5mtrs and he also tells me the
Cordillo Downs road is open but has lots of wash out and is very rough in
places

Hi All,
Spent 8 days out in
the desert until 2 days ago. Spent 2 days around the Eyre Creek Bypass including Goonermillera Crossing. It has a stoney base and was about 400 mm and dropping at that stage. It would need to double in height before it even began to be a problem. There is also a southern route 400 metres south of the QAA line but is boggy on the western side. The creek base is solid.
The northern bypass is very attractive with a mass of birdlife including black swans.
The desert proper is technically easier than last year. The first few dunes of the
Rig Road from K1 are challenging, the first has a 6 metre lip on the western face ,
but otherwise isn't horror the willem experienced.
Wildflowers are out and the weather is terrific having cooled the last few days.
Enjoy, we will be back out there for 10 days on Thursday.
regards
